Differnece in VHO and vortec max

Recommended Posts

The difference is bascily in the name. The VHO name came from the Vortec High Output badges put on the side of the truck. VHO wasn't the GM name for the truck, it was just what people started calling them. In 2006 when GM decided that the LQ9 should be offered in more than just a 2wd performance/touring based truck they came up with the name Vortec Max. All of the options just varied per year and model.

They are basically the same truck except the VHO always got the 20 inch Chevrolet Rims and the Vortec Max comes with the 17in or 20 in rims, because it is the same 6.0 engine. I think the Vortec Max looks better than the VHO because the Classic Vortec Max have the power dome hood.

The reason for the hood is just because of the year. All 06' and 07' in that body style used that hood.

the same engine??

the VMax is an ALUMINUM 6.0L with L92/L76 heads and Active Fuel Management and Variable Valve Timing. not even close to the same motors.

Edit:

ok, I'm confused. apparently GM named two different motors the Vmax?? the old LQ9 in 06' and the new L76 in 07 are both named Vmax's??
