Stepehn
2004 SS with 329,000 miles is my daily driver and work truck! Recently started burning a lot of oil. It also burns a small amount of coolant. I’m engine ignorant but have a good mechanic. I’m guessing head gasket but wondering what else it could be? Oil pan or rings? Thinking the combination of fluid burn leans towards head… Worth doing on an engine this used and with New England salt damage starting to need repair? Thanks! I was really hoping to see 400k! dcairns
How do you know it is burning oil and or coolant, not leaking it? Are you seeing smoke/steam out the tailpipe?
Stepehn
Yes, exactly. Already took care of some small leaks, manifold gasket, valley gasket, checked oil pan gasket. Can see and smell it right out of the pipe. It’s really heavy oil smoke on start up.
