Jacob1992
I'm new to the site, from Canada. I've had a 03 silverado ss for about 5 years. It's always been a love hate relationship. Last summer it spun a main bearing at about 230,000 km. A 2006 silverado ss has come up for sale about 8 hours away from me. 195,000 km, magnuson supercharger has been on it for 15,000 km, built trans. Hes asking 13,500$ which I thought was super reasonable seeing as I paid 12 grand for mine with 145,000 km stock. Just wondering what specifically I should look and listen for when I go to look at it. Other then the obvious things. Any info is appreciated
FASTDIESEL
I'd want to know what's in the "built" trans (receipts/parts list). Look for obvious issues with the engine, check for stored codes, take oil fill cap off when running and look for excessive crankcase pressure. And.....drive the heck out of it while it's still not yours! If it flies apart, it wasn't a good deal!
Jacob1992
Well, he's lowered the price to 11,000$. And I've seen the receipt for a 3200$ trans that was put in less then a year ago. Guna go check it out on Friday. Fingers crossed it's as good as it seems!
someotherguy
So 11K for an SS with about 121K miles with an allegedly low-mile Magnuson and rebuilt trans? Doesn't sound too shabby. Would be good to know the very specific details of what all was done to the transmission, although in the long run it's still gonna croak behind a supercharged engine. 2006 is gonna be RWD is that going to work out for you in Canada? Doughty08
Also while checking for stored codes check to see if all the checks have been ran to make sure he didnt just clear the codes or disconnect the battery.
Blown 346
I would also check the compression, and belt wear, the belt in the back is not fun. Also a 8 rib setup is almost a must as you dont want belt slip. also a good tensioner is a good idea as the stock one wont last long. Jacob1992
Haha yes, I've got other vehicles for the snow and mud. On the trans receipt it says stage 2 trans, corvette servos, high heat frictions, bands. It's still on warranty. I'm assuming from a local shop, no name brand on it. I figure worst case scenario I don't buy it, I'll still get to test drive the hell outa my dream truck.
