06DaleSS
Ok, well firstly this is my first post on here besides the introduction section..I was wanting to get a remote start and while browsing i saw the gm harness kit that just plugs in. A few issues i immediately think of is #1 when i bought my truck it came with no keyless entry remote, just a key, i know these have an anti theft passkey , now i assume previous owner could have gotten it repoed or something because recently i noticed a box tied in to the harness under the dash and fuze pannel while doing my heater core, i know its most likely one of the bypass boxes you can get. With that brief explanation here's my question, Can i purchase the factory remote start option harness and plug it in and also purchase a new remote and be good? will the remote not link with my truck due to this passkey tomfoolery? Issue #2 is, beyond the passkey stuff, will my body control module need programmed for the added harness or does the harness do its thing on its own, its got a little box on it so possibly a module of its own? SS-GTP
I'm not aware that a factory remote option was ever offered in these vehicles. I thought that didn't start until after the 2007 body change. Therefore I'm not aware of a factory plug-n-play harness. I ended up going with an aftermarket setup and splicing wires into the vehicle harness.

EXGM
You probably just need to get a few GM remotes..... probably got lost or broken before your ownership....
