Engine light is on after installing CAI

Recommended Posts

Hello Everyone,

This is my first post other than saying hello in the new member forum, so be gentle! I have searched for an answer to my question in past posts, but had no luck.

I put a new CAI on my 2003 SS. For now, because I have so many other things to take care of, I used the generic eBay CAI and a universal K&N filter. My truck runs great and sounds great, but the engine light is on. I pulled the AirFlow whatever-it-is off of the stock airbox and installed in with the new set up. Is that a necessity? Should I have used it? Is it normal for the light to come on? Enquiring minds want to know!

Thanks for your help,

Dan

You're gonna need to know the code; you can go down to most auto parts stores and they will read it for free. Write the exact code # down and post back.

Are you 100% sure you reconnected everything before starting it up?

Richard

I would check all you connection and make sure you don't have a leak on your "custom" intake.... if you don't have a nice tight fit you could be getting additional air by the MAF and tripping a code. As stated above find out the code and post....

Thanks guys, I'll double check all of my connections and if I still have light I'll have someone check the code and post back. Matt, it seems like you're really impressed with my "custom" intake! :jester::jester::jester:

Nah just giving you a hard time.... I've seen way to many problems with K&Ns..... I made a lot of money when I worked at the dealer for a few years. Loved it when people over oiled their filter and toasted a MAF or transmission......

Are you able to post a few pictures, and possibly find out what the exact codes are with a scan tool. Glad to help, just need a bit more info.

Before I got to someone with a scanner, I rechecked all of my plumbing and shortly thereafter my light went off. It didn't seem like there were any leaks, but no light, so maybe there was.
