BTR Truck Cam Stage 4.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Finally doing a cam. So right now its between BTR stage 4 or BTR stage 3. BTR recommended a 2600-2800 stall woth the stage 3 but a 3000-3200 stall for the stage 4. My thing is that with my tsp longtubes my truck is sluggish at 2500 and bellow. If i do either cam eoth the correct stall, it shouldnt be sluggish right?? Or would a stage 3 be better for gain i want.

Correct, with either of the new cams and higher stall you should be quicker out of the hole. What is the gains that you want exactly? Just to not be sluggish off the line?

I forget what the specs are on the BTR stage 4, but my understanding is that they would be optimal in the higher RPM range.

Stage 4 224/230 .553/.547 111+2

Stage 3 is 218/224 .553/.553 113+3

Just trying to get big gains grom just doing cam on a high milleage engine without revving out to 6700 rpm. Was considering a tsp 220r cam hut with .600 lift it carries itll be a top end cam. Just looking for a good midrange cam that has good torque for our heavy trucks and still decent gains on the top end.

Contacted BTR direcrly and asked what is the usable RPM range on the stage 4 and 3.

I got response of the stage 4 is 6300-6500 but also seen more.

Stage 3 is 6000-6300.

Whatever cam u pick the loss from the long tubes will go away after the cam and stall.

I like smaller stalls and cams more meat in the usable rpm range on the street. If your going to the track at all go big

I'm definitely not a cam expert, but the few reviews that I read over on pt.net everyone said their trucks really woke up about 3000 rpms with the stage 3. I might be pulling the trigger on a BTR stage 3 to go with a yank 3000 I have sitting around.

Yeah, im going with a BTR stage 3 cam. Make sure its with a 3000 or 3200 stall though. They recommened a 2600-2800, but i just did that cam in my buddys RCSB 6.0 with 243s and it doesnt pick up till 3200ish. But pulls strong till 6200.

Ok I have an 05 silverado 1500 5.3. I'm doing an btr4 g2 cam swap. It's a daily driver. I went with a phoenix high stall converter 10 inch with lock up. It's a 3200 to 3600 rpm. Is that too much? I'm new to this
