New gun choice?

Recommended Posts

Ok so I have a Remington 870 and I love it. I Also have a Marlin 17 HMR and is responsible for many dead rodents. Now my next gun will either be some kind of 1911 .45 ACP or a Remington 700 .308. Just wondering about thoughts?

That 870 will last 4-ever... it's remington tried and true. I picked up the 887 nitro mag from academy last week for 337.00, couldn't pass it up. My next shotgun will most likely be a remington 1100.

Two different weapons for two different applications... The 1911 is a fun gun to shoot, reliable, and a great in house self defense gun but a little too heavy for a daily carry and being that it carries 7 rounds in the magazine it is legal in california... The Remington 700 is a great hunting rifle and very reliable being a bolt action, there's a reason our military uses it for one of their primary sniper weapons as it is very reliable and can reach out and touch something at 1000yds in the .308 cal /7.62 Nato... I personally have both and love both of them...

Actually ok Remington 700 in 308 or Remington 770 in 30-06?

I got a 770 because of the price but it is no comparison to a 700 in quality

I say 700 in 270 FTW. I know it's not an option but great caliber :) Very close to the 06.

I have both but have more fun with my remington .308 700 aac-sd

Its extremely accurate, shoots 3 shot groups inside a dime at 100 yards with my reloads.I love this riffle!!

I would stay away from the 770

Why a 308? 6.5 Creedmore and 260 Remington are far better calibers if you plan on ever stretching its legs. I personally shoot 260 and have just recently gotten into large frame gas guns. I'm having a barrel spun up in 260 Rem as well.

If you want a factory 308 that will more than likely out shoot you look at the following.

Remington 700 AAC-SD (But replace the god awful stock they come with)

Remington 700 5R Milspec

Remington 700 Tactical Target

Remington 700 SPS Tactical (Again replace the rubber crap stock)

All 4 are great sticks and you can build whatever you want off of a 700 actions. Below are 2 of mine. The 300WM is a 5R Milspec with a bunch of changes and the 260 is a Crescent Custom built 260Rem on a 700 action

150yd target (by called I mean I said F&*K! lol)

Get into shooting some distances... You will fall in love!
