carbon fiber bowtie thread

Recommended Posts

like I said, for the size we need specific to our trucks, there currently aren't any floating around... But in the car scene, real carbon fiber badges and bowties are nothing new which means it probably wouldn't be too terribly difficult to send off some parts and get our sizes made.

With that being said though, I agree, I'd rather give a member here my monies (hence why I want Art to make the SS emblems too) but to think there is only one set of hands skilled enough to lay carbon fiber and have it look good is just plain silly. Hell, if I wasn't active duty military with the most jacked up schedule ever I would tackle such a feat. Playing with CF can't be too much more difficult than making fiberglass parts for race boats (what I did for a couple years prior to protecting all your crazy asses)

Navy. I am supposed to be on vacation duty here is SC but lately all I've been doing is traveling between here and Norfolk VA and Jacksonville FL escorting prisoners around... We still have to organize a meet!

Everyone thinks because they can do glass work that they can automatically do CF.... I have seen time and time again parts that are vacuum bagged and look like shit and not to mention they turn yellow and are flimsy. The bow ties you posted are overlays. The one for the truck is an actual part not just and overlay. All the cf parts made are wet layups. The radiator covers are 3 layers of glass with cf on top of it to make it sturdy and all the parts can flex with cracking them (radiator cover and fuse cover).

Art I'm not trying to downplay your skill level. Sure there are lots of people who suck at laying CF. Heck there are lots of people who suck at laying fiberglass too. And I am sure there is an equal amount of people who are good at both as well... I know the one picture I posted is no where near your quality... I was just showing this forum that we were not the first to invent CF bowties. Nothing is new or original in the car world these days... Everything has already been done somewhere by someone else...

Now with all that being said, make some ss badges to go with those beautiful bowties so I can throw my monies at you

How did I miss this!!!

If you have any thoughts of another order of 5 please let me know or please PM me. The CF would look beautiful on my OB truck and every other SSS I am sure Art. Your work is amazing, I wish I could get the CF for the engine bay (just missed it when I joined here I think).

Keep up the great work.

All done! Will be shipping them out this week. Just have to pack them. If you would like a TTS Performance decal (The Truck Shop Performance) please let me know and I will ship it with the bow tie (red or silver). Thanks!

Also on a side note getting some prices together for the carbon fiber SS badges. Would be making the SS badges bases and getting the carbon fiber water jet cut to fit perfectly on them. Stay tuned!
