1BAD2K
I heard Chevy ships all of their vehicles some 300 miles just to get chevron fuel for the first tank full. Can anyone else fact check? I remember when I looked up best fuel.. Which everyone said chevron Sent from my Galaxy S-Fawhore I've heard nothing but junk about chevron with their added techron filler. I only use 93 octane QT gas which is top tier gasoline. Im not sure if chevron is top tier, never used it or checked into it.

Argo_SS
Copied and pasted this from GM Service Information just now from work. Kinda slow at the dealership at the moment. This bulletin has been updated recently as Chevron was at the top of the list just a few months ago. I always use Chevron when I can due in part to this bulletin. #04-06-04-047L: TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline(Deposits, Fuel Economy, No Start, Power, Performance, Stall Concerns) – U.S.Only - (Nov 7, 2013) Subject: TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline (Deposits, Fuel Economy, No Start, Power, Performance, Stall Concerns) – U.S. Only Models: 2014 and Prior GM Cars and Trucks (U.S. Only) This bulletin has been revised to add the 2014 model year. Pleasediscard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-06-04-047K. In Canada, refer to the latestversion of Corporate Bulletin Number 05-06-04-022. A new class of fuel called TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is appearing at retailstations of some fuel marketers. This gasoline meets detergency standardsdeveloped by six automotive companies. All vehicles will benefit from using TOPTIER Detergent Gasoline over gasoline containing the “Lowest AdditiveConcentration” set by the EPA. Those vehicles that have experienced depositrelated concerns may especially benefit from the use of TOP TIER DetergentGasoline. (1) Intake valve: 10,000 miles with TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline (2) Intake valve: 10,000 miles with Legal Minimum additive Gasoline Brands (U.S.) That Currently Meet TOP TIER Detergent GasolineStandards As of July 1, 2012, all grades of the following gasoline brands meet the TOPTIER Detergent Gasoline Standards: 76 Stations Aloha Petroleum BP Chevron Conoco CountryMark Entec Stations Exxon Hawaii Fueling Network (HFN) Holiday Stationstores Inc. Kwik Trip Kwik Star MFA Oil Co. Mileage Stations Mobil Ohana Fuels Phillips 66 QuickTrip Road Ranger Scheirl Oil Shell Texaco Tri-Par Oil Co. U.S. Oil What is TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline? TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline is a new class of gasoline with enhanceddetergency. It meets new, voluntary deposit control standards developed by sixautomotive companies that exceed the detergent requirements imposed by the EPA. Where Can TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline Be Purchased? The TOP TIER program began on May 3, 2004 and many fuel marketers have joinedthe program and have introduced TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline. This is a voluntaryprogram and not all fuel marketers will offer this product. Once fuel marketersmake public announcements, they will appear on a list of brands that meet theTOP TIER standards. Where Can I find the Latest Information on TOP TIER Fuel andRetailers? On the web, please visit www.toptiergas.com foradditional information and updated retailer lists. Who developed TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards? TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standards were developed by six automotivecompanies: Audi, BMW, General Motors, Honda, Toyota and Volkswagen. Why was TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline developed? TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline was developed to increase the level of detergentadditive in gasoline. The EPA requires that all gasoline sold in the U.S.contain a detergent additive. However, the requirement is minimal and in manycases, is not sufficient to keep engines clean. In order to meet TOP TIERDetergent Gasoline standards, a higher level of detergent is needed than what isrequired by the EPA. Also, TOP TIER was developed to give fuel marketers theopportunity to differentiate their product. Why did the six automotive companies join together to develop TOPTIER? All six corporations recognized the benefits to both the vehicle and theconsumer. Also, joining together emphasized that low detergency is an issue ofconcern to several automotive companies. What are the benefits of TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline? TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline will help keep engines cleaner than gasolinecontaining the “Lowest Additive Concentration” set by the EPA. Clean engineshelp provide optimal fuel economy and performance and reduced emissions. Also, use of TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline will help reduce deposit related concerns. GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. Argo_SS
Oh, and right now I'm getting 12.4mpg with Magnaflow muffler, AirAid Jr tube and Synthamax filter, HPTuners tune(still working out bugs) and Amsoil in everything. And I don't consider myself hard on it. but I don't "try" to get good mileage either. I live 4 miles from work/town and go through 2 traffic lights to get here. Argo_SS
tell me about it. All of our Chevron's around here were bought out a couple years ago.
4Runner
Man! Thank you very much for that Argo. That was helpful. Glad I us it still. I have a lot of the stations that are on the list around me. I'm surprised maverick isn't on that list. But that would explain why that fuel sucks. When I was using it in my runner I always had fuel problems. Like my filter being clogged
