A Letter to the site

Some of the "vets" on here are picking fights every chance they get with noobs. Several threads have been edited in the past couple of days because of it. This site has very little traffic now, why the mods continue to let a few seasoned members derail topic after topic??

All I'm saying is, if a member needs correcting, then correct the post in a straight foward informative way. Don't tell him to plastidip his ass, you're an idiot, or whatever. I hate reading to 3 pages of name calling just to get two sentences worth of info......

probably because of "noobs" not searching. too many threads on basic crap that's been covered repeatedly.

There is tons of knowledge here, and lots of experienced people willing to help. Some of the vets just get tired of answering the same questions everyday. Lol. Just do some research, search through previous threads, and if you're still confused or can't find what you're looking for, start a new thread! We're hear to help and are always eager to see new builds.

This is the first forum I have ever been too and learned a lot. I'll be around for a long time. But like Shaun said in the first post we are here to help other newbies and those who just need help. You will never here a negative comment from me. Except on Svt performance site cause well there is a lot of mustang owners over there and need I say more. Hahaha and I don't use my usual name. I just wish I could be in more then I have been lately.

Its not "picking a fight". A few select members on here seem to think they need to offer tech advice to others and have no idea what they are talking about OTHER than what the might have read on here in previous threads and/or posts. And to add to it, they fly off the wall with stuff they only read and it doesnt even relate to help what the OP would need! I.E suggesting a camshaft and stall converter for towing in the mountains?! Are you f'n serious?

To the ones that ask for the advice, they might not know any different which is why they are asking the question. Then actually do what these guys suggest and either completly wreck their truck or go backwards in performance wasting their money.

Or, instead of "picking a fight" I can let the OP take the advice of installing a donkey dick cam and 4000 stall converter to pull a boat through the mountains.

Brian makes a very valid point. Now iv been on other forums as well and this one has the nicest people and least amount of bickering. This hobby is expensive and information can be easily squewed. Now I have seen some things get out of hand, but it is entertaining to say the least. Iv met a bunch of members over the years and all have a personality that seems different than on the computer. All mean well, personalities just clash sometimes.

Yeah. But it's a forum. There has to be some discretion. Everything you read on the Internet isn't true. There are some knowledgeable people on this site, but not everyone is a LSX GM Performance Specialist. If I were to make a thread titled "I want a faster truck, what do I need to do?" And someone replies "put diesel fuel in your tank. That'll make it go fast!" I'm not gonna go out do the first thing I read. Even if I knew nothing about vehicles, you need to ask around and make sure you have it figured out before you go wasting money on useless mods. I don't know... If someone goes out and wrecks their truck from lack of research, it's no ones fault but their own. I'm guilty of this as well. The other summer when blew up my motor, I rolled up my sleeves and dove head first into rebuilding it and modding this and modding that. In the end, it resulted in a lot of trial and error. If I knew then what I know now, I'd have a much meaner truck and lots more money in my pocket. Instead, I have a decent truck and I'm broke. But you live and you learn. I've learned so much from this forum and just getting out there and getting my hands dirty. I built my entire motor myself, did all my mods myself... Its a proud feeling whenever I look at my truck because I know how hard I worked to get it where it is now. Plus, like I said, I learned a lot doing it. I turned every bolt on that truck myself and I'm pretty confident that there isn't anything I can't do. Just takes research and money. Haha.

Anyway, I guess the moral to all this ranting, is make sure you noobs do your research! And have fun with it!

Well said for every dollar spent should be a min of research that has been done before a big purchase and or install.

Not to mention if someone asks for multiple opinions that's all it is not to be taken as this is the only way it can be done as it has been taken this way 2 many times.

If someone makes a rediculous suggestion such as a camshaft and stall converter for towing a boat through the mountains...then to suggest nitrous as a power adder as well....im gonna call you out. Bottom line. Either dont post "tech help" unless you are educated, or be prepared to get blasted.

If you dont like it, tough titties. Go post that suggestion on other forums. You think what I said was bad, you would get eatin alive elsewhere

He also said he wanted to make it exciting while towing the boat , is a cam exciting I think so, is nitrous exciting also think so, also think a stall convertor is exciting but not for that application like I posted.

and when I bought mine from yank they asked if I was going to be towing with the truck I said no so I know better.

No doubt! If someone is spreading false information, someone like yourself that knows better, should speak up. Otherwise that thread will sit there for years feeding people with lies. Sure would suck to read something like that and take it for fact, then go out and waste your money ruining your truck. BUT, whether we like it or not, these types of false information posts exist. This is why you need to do your research and not believe everything you read. But anyway, just beating a dead horse here. Edited by MID12sSSS (see edit history)
