Electrical draw

Recommended Posts

Guys when testing for a draw do you put your test light in mind with the ground or positive cables?,meaning do you disconnect the positive lead and hook one end of the test light to the battery positive and the other end of the test light to the positive terminal?.

A test light isn't needed to diagnose a parasitic draw, you'll need a multimeter. Disconnect the negative battery cable and connect one of the leads of the multimeter to the negative battery post and the other lead to the negative battery cable. You'll need to let the modules in the vehicle go to sleep, and usually let the multimeter sit for a couple of hours. Hope that helps!

What should I be reading because it seems that if you take the key out of the ignition and open the door the radio sometimes stays on, the draw is enough to kill my battery in an day or two.
