I hear the jet or slp ones actually work No need for aftmkt fans

Wizard
I ordered the Hypertech stat and it runs at 195 degrees. So I am not a big fan so far. Wizard

deve8edsilv
got mine from kenne bell and it runs just above 160--also the guy who tuned my computer said that something had to be changed in the computer so that a check engine light would not come on with the lower stat. SSLink
Be careful on temperature readings if you are relying on the stock guage on the dash. GM guages aren't always real accurate, and may not fully reflect a t-stat change. A scanner reading would be more reliable. Just my $.
Justin Lamanna
I have the SLP stat, it works really well. 170-ish range all the time, unless i'm in traffic on a hot day then it climbs up a little.
TBSS
So here's the Lingenfelter '04 stat for $26.95: And here's the SLP '04 stat for $19.95:
TBSS
And I now just realized we never answered this gentleman's question about whether or not he needs to reprogram something after installing the new, 160* thermostat. I'd be interested in the answer as well.

If you have the stock fans, there is nothing to program. There might be an SES light, but I never got one.
hank
i had Allen retune my pcm after the 160 stat. he said it was needed to work. i do have the hypertech and it runs cool if its in the low 80's outside and i don't get over 2600 rpm. after that it runs around 200.
