Spoke to FLP today...

Have you put in a larger cooler yet?

I pushed my stock unit quite a bit with the Radix, before it got built, with 10+lbs of boost. I had zero problems. But, I got rid of the tiny cooler and went to a much better fluid that nearly prevents slipping and claims up to a 35 degree reduction in temps.

I was thinking it'd go poof with the 408 + 15psi

You're probably right there.

The thing is, that's not where you'll spend most of your driving, unless you're like the one who posted doing 90 in a 35. I read that as crazy.

I firmly believe it is more how you drive than anything. Parish didn't break all those trannys by occasionally getting on it, or a few trips a year to the track. He has too much video doing therwise. He broke them by constantly stressing their builds. That's cool if that's what you want to do. I will push mine, just not every time I'm in the seat.

With your current setup, you might be okay for quite a while, even with 10lbs boost. Who knows? When the 408 goes in, all bets are off - with leaving it stock.

i'm 100% with on you on it's how you drive it. parish is a great example, he bought the truck and built it for mainly one purpose and well, that's the result. i'm a firm believer in not converting to something until i've proven i can't make the current way work. ben's truck is a good example of that method.

Generally, I agree with both of you. I'm just thinking about the fact that if I do the tc & tranny the same time I do the 408, I'm ahead on the labor costs. On the other hand, labor for the FLP is $250.

I don't want to fix it more than once, and am thinking that FLP might give me that option given how I will be using the truck. If I could find a local shop like Ben did, the other option might open up.

I'm hopefully going to be talking to Vinci today to see if they use a local guy.

Well I just talked to Joe Vinci...

Its actually kind of funny. I asked him if there was anyone local that I could talk to about doing a 60E or 65E and he said "Local? Um..." <long pause> ".. not if you want to make any power."

Orlando is really going rice it seems like. Even the Speed and Truck world franchise now has more honda parts than truck parts :)

He's going to try to track down a local Z06 owner who put a monster motor in and was going to have a tranny built around town, but its pretty telling that Joe's tranny is a Yank custom and none of the shop guys have a locally built tranny.

Becareful, just because the can put a manual together (z06 has a 6spd), won't make them an automatic specialist. :(

Yeah... That's weird -- I asked him about 65Es or 60Es. Maybe the Z06 has swapped for the track or something (which would be  imo -- the Z06 manual was nice and tight).

Come to think of it he said a Z06 with a 65, but I bet he meant a 56. It was a vague memory for him anyway, so...
