Lq9 Vs Lq4? Anyone

CAN ANYONE TELL ME THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN LQ9 & LQ4 ENGINES I KNOW THE LQ9 CAME IN SS. LOOKING TO DO AN ENGINE SWAP ON MY TWO DOOR REGULAR CAB I HAVE A 4.8 WANT TO UPGRADE TO A 6.0...AT MY LOCAL SHOP THEY HAVE LQ4'S N LQ9'S AND A DIFFERENCE OF A ABOUT $200-$300 FOR THE LQ9

i believe lq9 has higher compression and flat top pistons not totally sure on that im sure someone will chime in that knows more on this topic

correct LQ9=10.1:1 and LQ4=9.2:1 and about 20 hp less than the LQ9. Both should have the 317 Jcasting number) heads.....fyi

If ur going thru all that trouble why not build it instead,IMO . All the accessories are ther same

YEA THATS WHAT I WANT TO DO...REGARDLESS IF I WERE TO GET AN LQ9 OR LQ4 I WOULD WANNA REBUILD IT AND MAKE IT NICE AND STOUT...BUT I FIGURE IF EVERYTHING IS THE SAME EXCEPT SOME ACCESORRIES, PISTONS ,ETC THEN I WHY WOULDNT I JUST PICK UP AN LQ4 THATS ABOUT $300 CHEAPER AND JUST BUILD IT UP??

What do u mean by accessories , what I consider accessories is alt, steering wheel pump, Ac condenser ect

yea exactly you got the idea.

 

i wanna swap a 6.0 into my 2door for my 4.8 v8 and im unsure of how i need to go about doing that. i figure if the lq4 and lq9 blocks are the same then i can get an lq4 an be able to build it up just like you would with an lq9

It should only take u a couple of hrs with the right tools and motivation, oh yeah don't forget about the beers and and some good tunes. Every thing is plug and play except u will need a tune . Since ur I'n la hit up chpspecial here on the forum many of use can vouch for him

all harness n engine sensors are plug n play??
