DEBT JET
First off I just wanted to thank all of you for your knowledge. Without you I would have never been able to do this. This is for anyone that is curious on what it takes to convert a 2001 silverado into a 2004 silverado ss. (Basic) Parts list: ALL OEM *Left and Right fenders *Hood *Grill *Grill emblem *Left and Right headlights *Left and Right running lights *Left and Right headlight buckets *Front chrome bumper *Front SS bumper cover *Center bumper grill *Left and Right bumper ducts *Left and Right frame horn ends *And A TON of bumper brackets Parts you can reuse: *Hood hinges *Left and Right fender liners *Rad. support *Hood latch The reason I done the conversion was that I hit a deer coming home one night and the insurance company gave me a little over $2,500 for the damage. The parts ran me just over $2,000(discounted) and was able to re-paint the entire truck for $400 (cost of materials) so I still came out ahead. I first started by breaking it all down: Once I found out all the parts that I needed I went ahead and ordered them (the first small batch) While I was trimming in the parts I went ahead and changed out my condenser and started on the minor body work along with removing my body side moldings and fender flares: Once my parts were dry I went ahead and swapped over the fenders and hood: Then I started to work on the frame horn ends. I cut the old ones off with a torch then ground them down smooth and bolted the new ones on: After I got everything lined up I went and took it all back apart and got it ready for paint: Once it was all painted all it needed was to be wet sanded, buffed, and reassembled: And the final product! (minus the grill emblem. It showed up after i painted the truck so I have not sprayed it yet) I hope this helps anyone that had any questions on how it was done. If you have any questions please let me know. Bill. Edited January 12, 2011 by DEBT JET (see edit history)

DEBT JET
Dam man, that is one awesome conversion. Put that bowtie on and paint those mirror caps and you'll be good to go! Yeah i wanted to paint the entire mirrors, handles, and chrome rear bumper but it was over $100 for a quart of etch primer(for the chrome). Also have always been told never paint textured parts. Wish i did do them now since I went that far with it.

BlueAKSSS
Looks great! This is a great thread, because people always ask how to convert a 99-02 front end to the 03-05 SS front end! Anyways looks great, I've painted a few truck myself and wow is it a lot of work. Next get a drop on it....

Next get a drop on it.... Haha. Yeah I spent a lot of time online trying to find out what all was involved to do so. I eventually ended up asking people on here but never did find a detailed "how-to". The paint was extremely hard! was like sanding concrete with notebook paper! I was actually thinking about just dropping the rear to level it out.

zpaucoin
Hey I've done this exact conversion to my truck and I am having some hood fitment issues. Ive got it lined up to where it doesn't rub, it latches fine in the front center, but it seems to bow out towards each end above the headlights. Check out my pics). Any remedies for this? I really need some help here It's been over a year and I am at a loss as to what else to try. Any input is greatly appreciated.
