StS turbo gettting closer

Recommended Posts

Just in the short amount of time I drove it, I could not get used to that loud blow off valve, we've all heard them before, but it's just a little disturbing, lol, in a good way, I guess I'm used to the Radix trucks.

The lag was very acceptable. Jonathan is returning after things settle down to get the full tune, just not enough time, and a shift kit.

SSminneapolis,

They were the NGK TR6's for a blown/nitrous application. Same ones I've got for my truck. Good to hear it's up and running ssblackss. You got to get some numbers back to us, soon I hope....

Allen is right with the combination blowoff valve and the waste gate it is truly a sound to behold... I am getting a check engine light coming on but I guess its learning the new amount of air flow etc? any one seen this on the Radix kits? and does it go away. I really love this and its not really for the ones who want to remain hidden in the traffic you will stand out and a lot  just sounds like Parish8's truck but maybe somewhat louder as all the goodies are outside.

I will take some more pictures of the tail pipe and the turbo as it sits in the truck right now. I will need to go and order the NGK TR6's today that might help when we get it tuned... prob. need some wires aswell.

I have to give a HUGE thank you to all involved in the install. Joe for the use of his shop, knowledge and fabricating prowess and Allen for all the electrical/tuning and both for the hard work put in over Thursday, Friday and into Saturday. Guys I really appreciate it and I will be back for the tune and tranny work In the very very near future.

Brent you will be pleased to know that my son is ok and there is a trip to the specialist next month all will be well thanks for the thoughts...

There won't be any trips to the dyno or the track just jet until we get the tuning taken care of and also the tranny upgrade but for now you will have to take my word for it it runs strong real strong...

If any one has any questions feel free to ask I will try my best to answer them.

Like you said, we still need tuning, I bet it's a air flow code, like the whipples get, i just need to scale that table about 130%.

It'll probably go away also.

Jonathan, did the truck get stronger after a few hundred miles?

thanks,

Yeah Allen it did seemed a little more responsive. but I am a little worried to get right into it a lot as we have not tuned it totally. It is a very different feeling now driving with the turbo as you try to equate the whissle with speed and of course the sound of the turbo makes you feel that you are belting along when in reallity you are not as fast as you think. Dont get me wrong it will get up and giddy up on ya and at highway speeds under acceleration will spool up and push you right along. I have an enormous amount of fun using the blow off valve on convertibles and pedestrians. I knew it wouldn't take me long to become a hooligan

Popping a code for air? Do you have a code reader, or EFILive? Go to Autozone and get it read for free. I never got a code like that, even maxing out the stock maf.

Allen, somebody told you now have EFILive. That true? About damn time, lol.

Benkey nobody knows what code it is Allen was just shooting an educated guess... Its the engine symbol has come on so we don't know what code it is. Are you running 10-12 lbs? then you might not have pushed the MAF out that far... just a thought.

not yet, lol, but i need to, just because everyone else does, i have my Geny and old trust atap, hahah

With all the money you're making....... :smash:

ssblackss - go to Autozone and get the code read - just to see. I have hit 10+lbs of boost without any kind of codes. Guys with heavily modded trucks, and you may soon fall into that category, really need to get logging software. :smash: It is the only way to know what your engine is doing.

Jonathan, you can get the TR6's at OReilly auto parts for $2/ea. Stock No. 4177

I'm using LS1Edit and EFILive. They work ok together. If you can wait a bit, the EFILive guys are also coming out with a combination scanner/tuner package this summer - FlashScan. Sounds good, and based on their EFILive product I'd say it should be a good package.

If you just want a scanner, I recommend EFILive Professional version.

1. it is controllable? YOu can make it blow off the pressure/boost?

2. Have you had your son checked for allgeries? My best friend had his ears fixed but it was caused by his allgerie to cow's milk. Review his diet and see how much milk he drinks. Then may be give it a few days with out or w/substitute? As a dad too, I love my truck but the kids come first. To make a long story shorter...my friend ended up drininking goat milk till he became an adult...just a thought.
