StS turbo gettting closer

Recommended Posts

Well, we got all the gauges in , injectors in, and most of the turbo laid out and together. Tommorrow we'll get the turbo on and tune it up.

SSblackSS went with the Autometer guages, air/fuel, fuel pressure, and of course boost.

The kit is very nice and complete. No parts are missing and the instructions are laid out nicely.

We'll have to make a trip to the local fitting shop to get a connector for the fuel pressure sensor. Why in the hell doesn't anyone make ONE connector that will attatch the autometer fuel sensor to the fuel rail? Is there one?

The truck runs just fine with the 43lb injectors also. So if anyone is considering a bump in power, you can go ahead and install the injectors, but you'll need to scale the injectors.

The intake tubing should go pretty quickly, as will the turbo install, the only hurdle is the piece of tubing we need to fabricate that will join the two dual pips to one, then into the turbo. Shouldn't be too hard.

vids and pics coming soon,

I was wondering about the need for a custom y-pipe with this kit. Are you planning to cut the pipes off the muffler and weld a Y on at that point? Or will you go all the way back to the factory exhaust connectors and do the Y there?

I think BenKey found a single fitting for the fuel rail... ?

Here are some pics of the install so far. It's not much but it gives you an idea of what is going on. This not just a one day install if you're going all out. The injectors, electrical gauges, alky/meth kit, in-line fuel pump add to the hours.

We'll be finishing it up tomorrow and have some vids and the final product. So far the only fabrication needed was the two into one pipe.

Also, these pics were taken during assembly, so wire ties aren't cut, clamps are tight, etc.

btw,

CALLING OUT SLIMSOFTBALL!!! we need a fast Radix SS to test out the kit on, lol. You're the fastest SS around SA and we wanted to compare. :jester:

I was there today while the install was finished. We did not get around to getting numbers as time ran out. It was great to meet ssblackss. What a sweet truck. The gauges look trick. The turbo sounds and runs awesome! They had a Y pipe made for the truck to handle the dual exhaust issue.

I'm tired. I am certain farmtruck or ssblackss will give an update in the morning.

I had to use two connection pieces to get me to the one needed for my sending unit - a major PITA. Thank God for Earl's.

Allen, after you get done escort that gentleman to the nearest carwash. :jester: Can't stand to see these trucks that dirty.
