zippy
For the money that you have to spend I'd recomend: TVS2300 setup for 8psi 408 with L92 heads from WCCH at around 10:1-10.5:1 compression Rossler 4L65E transmission 2600-2800 Vigilante Converter Walbro 255 in tank with Magnavolt and in line pusher pump American Racing 1 7/8" headers Corsa 4" catback That should be a fairly reliable package if everything is installed and tuned in correctly. In full street trim high 11's shouldn't be a problem with plenty of room to grow. Where are you located?

Or you could build a simple 370... edelbrock 245 heads, the edelbrock pro flow XT intake cnc matched. N/A it is possible for mid to low 12s. add a 150 shot and you can be easily in the mid 11's then build the trans and rear end... she will hold and you will have a mid 11 second truck for under 10-12K. Why waste the other 12K to acheive the same overall goal??

04CHASE
nitrous is the cheap route for sure. it can have more problems than forced induction though , backfires/ bottle pressure. lots of different things , forced induction also isnt as hard on the engine . some people like nitrous and some prefer forced induction . i bet we all know what danny's scsb will have on it. Also it isn't any harder on an engine than FI is regardless of the type. And yes my scsb will have nitrous on it and a lot of it for a few reasons.... here in TX when it is 100* out I have the ability to run more consistant than the FI guys. Also it is the easiset to tune for. I'm not opposed to a blower hell I have had a blower and you will find out more on where I stand on blowers very soon...cant go into any further than that at this time. 04CHASE
im not knockin ya danny , i guess im just partial to f.i. im going turbo and have never owned anything with turbo or turbos. so whats up your sleeve on this blower project? nitrous compressor? RAYRAY25
why waste cash on a FAST... not the right way to spend almost 1K on these trucks.... try performance induction specialist if you want a real intake.... they have guys running heads/cam trucks with that intake and are running mid to low 11's and they are bracket racing. Do you have a link to them or a phone number?

Why waste the other 12K to acheive the same overall goal?? Your idea is great, but not nearly in the same class. An 11 second 370 in an SSS is going to need a pretty good sized cam. The big heads would allow for less cam, but still a pretty good sized cam. A 370 in an SSS running them numbers would need a 3600 or higher converter as that big of a cam and that big of flowing heads would require quite a decent rpm to get a good launch. The only 364 SSS in the 12's at all has a 4000 stall, lightweight wheels, short tires, electric water pump, etc. The combo running that number is a possiblity for sure, but not exactly what most would want to drive everyday. The 408 with a TVS2300 if done right would idle almost like stock, run the number, and not need any re-fills to be fast. You get the power every time you drive it. Nitrous is dangerous to customers who don't know much about engines or nitrous. 370 about 2700-3500 408 about 3500-4500 245 heads about 2400-2500 L92 done well about 1700-2000 TVS2300 about 8,000 with 8 rib on the high side. Edelbrock intake about 600 not including injectors or anything else to make the job work. Figure about 600 more for injectors, pigtails, etc. A two stage nitrous kit would run right around 1200 in parts with bottle heater(s), window switch, etc. Trans is a zero since both would need a built trans. Converter is a zero since both would need a converter. Fuel system is a zero since both would need a fuel system up grade to make enough power to go 11's. Headers/exhaust are a zero since both would be better with long tubes and the 370 would really need everything to get it's number. Difference in the two would be about 5600 more for the 408/blower setup without labor included. Add labor to that where the 370 with a 2 stage nitrous kit and Edelbrock intake had to be installed and the 408 blower setup would be closer yet. A good nitrous kit like that is going to run about 800 installed and the intake most shops would add 300-400 to install. The TVS2300 comes ready to go with only the intercooler side to really have to deal with once the engine is out and going back in. Probably 300-600 depending on the shop for the blower install. When the budget allows it's always best to set up the vehicle to be as calm and as simple as possible. In Vegas nitrous is popular for the same reason you like it. Temps aren't as big of a deal for a nitrous setup as boosted or N/A. For the right guy it's very hard to beat a nitrous setup, especially in the summer. I've seen customers stop to the shop and get a full bottle. Drive around to places with that bottle in the car in 100+ degree heat and the bottle pressure will hit 1400-1600 in no time. Some people won't know any better and spray with it like that. That is going to spray very lean and possibly take out a motor. Much longer in the heat than that and the nitrous blow-off will let go and now your $40 in nitrous is gone, you can't spray it, your interior may be full of nitrous now if you have no blow down tube, and you have to get the bottle fixed. Leaving the heater on too long with a fresh bottle can do the same in any weather. It can also leave you with a dead battery if you leave it on too long with the engine not running. Many motors have broken from spraying with the nitrous pressure too low also as well as some blowing the intake off. That's kinda the main issue's with running it. I'm sure your truck will run killer with nitrous. Many just shouldn't have it. (I see these people every day).

I run things balls to the wall and spend the cash where it needs to be spent, but I do have the expeirence and knowledge to run my set-up. You are right many don't know what they are doing and that can cause major problems... Zippy is right if you have the cash to spend... Me personally wouldnt even dump 25K in a SSS waste IMO. Go buy a f body or s-10 for 5K and build something really nasty!!!!!!!!!
