SuperSport
Hey guys, this question is probably geared for guys who have taken the intake manifold off. I am in the middle of a cam swap and is see a foam pad sitting in between the intake manifold and the top of the block. what is it ???
blownchevy
it is there to help keep the "noise" down. It also helps keep water off of the knock sensors....this was a big problem for GM a few years ago.
BenKey
Did you take off your intake to do your cam swap? Just curious.
zippy
if you have them out, i wouldn't put them back in. they are good for holding heat in under the intake.

SuperSport
Did you take off your intake to do your cam swap? Just curious. I am taking the heads off to do a little port and polish of my own, but i am also doing the cam. I just wanted to see if it was ok to remove it. Like Zippy said i think it would just hold heat in. So i am going to remove it unless it does mess up the knock sensor. Does anyone think i will have a problem. Thanks
