where is the best possible ground?

and what is a good fuse to piggy back off of for a switched 12v? (as in power comes on when the key is turned and turns off when not)

You can go off of the remote turn on wire going to your stereo since that turns on with the ignition depending on how much power you will need from it, and as for ground if you can ground directly to the frame that is always a good spot, or you can ground to a hefty bolt somewhere, also depends on how much amps you want to draw.
