04CHASE
well aside from missing the track day today my abs light and parking lights come on interminutely and go off just like that, they did it baout 10 times on the way home, i havent changed the tire size or anything . i know there is a speed sensor on the transfer case. does anyone know how many there are and what is common? has anyone ever heard of anything like this happen? SD619SS
After doing a r&r similar to yours I have been haunted by the ABS code(s) My friend at the dealership tracked them all down 1 by 1 and replaced a few sensors.....now 2 months later my truck started throwing the ABS codes again. My friend (whos a gen3 specialist) said one was caused by heat from the exhaust? I guess i'll go see him again...but to answer your question, yes I had the same problem and thought "why is my ABS f'n up when I was working on my motor??Good luck
usabodyguard
after my header install and dyno pulls the other day, when i left the shop i had an ABS light come on but it turned off and it hasnt returned... I can check with Doug who did my tune if he knows...
04CHASE
dave yours is from being on the dyno when the rear wheels move and the fronts dont it sets the code. the crazy thing is i havent worked on anything except the nitrous . so i dont know why it would do this. riddle
Chase, did you switch tire before going to the track? There is a bullitan on co237 and bad harness being the fault. I dont think that is your problem due to the c0238 code you have as well.(IMO) the 237 code is just basically a report of the 238. C0237 is the EBCM reporting an erratic WSS. Your 238 is the EBCM reporting a 10% greater or less then difference in wheel speed. MY thought, If you ran your 18's both your EBCM and your PCM need to know that. Otherwise that could be the difference. Or one really low tire. Should be 2 in the front . t-case is a vss, dont think it should pertain? could be wrong, lol I would check those connections and spin your wheels verify an A/c Signal. ~Danny Edited December 1, 2007 by Riddler (see edit history)
04CHASE
no change in wheels like i said, im going to try and figure it out on monday but it doesent make sense as to why it would be so interminute unless its a lose wire or bad sensor. riddle
well, hmmm. this is what the bullitan states: U can check it out anyway: The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI. <A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1993197&psdid=437&evc=sm#ss1-1993197"> Condition/Concern: ABS light on speedometer may be erratic. DTC C0055 C0235 C0236 or C0237 stored in the EBCM. This concern may be intermittent and not easily reproduced. <A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1993197&psdid=437&evc=sm#ss2-1993197"> Recommendation/Instructions: Using the Tech 2, check the EBCM, ECM/ PCM and/or TCM for any speed sensor related DTCs. These DTCs will need to be diagnosed first. Follow published diagnostics for related DTCs, repair and evaluate the vehicle after repairs are complete. If no DTCs exist in any other module, inspect the rear VSS sensor circuit(s) from the rear VSS sensor to the related module (ECM, PCM or TCM) for integrity. These circuits are 821 and 822 or 400 and 401 depending on model and model year (use SI to locate the schematic that applies to your application). Repair or restring these two circuits as needed. Evaluate the vehicle. Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
04CHASE
actually its sounding more like a sensor , ill take the truck to work tommorrow to scope it out .
Fireman31
According to AllData...... C0237 The EBCM detects an erratic rear wheel speed signal for 105 milliseconds Diagnostic Aids Thoroughly inspect connections or circuitry that may cause an intermittent malfunction. C0238 The EBCM detects that one wheel speed input is 10 percent greater than or 10 percent less than the other wheel speed inputs within 3.2 km (2 mi) of driving. Diagnostic Aids Installing one tire of significantly different size on the vehicle causes DTC C0238 to set. Operating the vehicle with a tire that has very low air pressure may also set this DTC. Inspect the vehicle for an incorrect or damaged wheel speed sensor or vehicle speed sensor if the tires and the EBCM and PCM calibrations are OK. I would lean towards a loose/bad wire or a faulty sensor Chase.
