Quik
your motors dont have a PCV valve. you have a restrictor for the PCV system. older motors have the pcv that sounds like a marble in it
Turbocoop
yeah its not really a pcv valve I think, it looks like one but its just a connector for the hose to the valve cover- it doesnt do anything so it cant go bad
misterp
Huh. Well if that's the case why does mine rattle? Doesn't matter, with the PCV placement it would not matter if it had a valve or not; I hope whoever it was at GM that thought it was a good idea to locate the PCV valve at the back of the valve cover got fired. AK04SS
hey mr. p, is it different on an 04? pcv hose is a lot thinner than that. and doesnt even have the restrictor or valve in it.
Wizard
So I replaced the pcv valve today. And like Quik said, its not really a valve but a restrictor. I replaced it with a Napa # 2-9399 with is the 03 ZO6 pcv valve. And it is actually a valve with a check ball in it. The opening is much bigger than the stock one AC Delco #CV 2001 C. Honestly, I could tell a difference in how it idled, and how it responded while driving. Maybe, I am crazy, but I could feel a difference. Anyway, someone make a liar out of me and tell me I've lost my mind.' Here is a picture of both. The shiny one is the new one, you will notice a much bigger opening than the stock one. Pardon the glare.

Yesterday an old hot rodder saw the new CSR catch can and said "well instead of installing a band-aid why don't you just fix the original problem" so now I'm pondering the whole issue. I'll have to research... Mr. P.

sprayed99
every ls based enigne I have gone into has used at least .5qts of oil every 3-4K. Installing a catch can is the fix or modify the valve cover....I'll stick with my catch can.
