Holty
04Chase As I grew out of my old Tahoe I was always intrigued by the Silverado SS truck. I joined SilveradoSS.com to help me find a new truck and to see what the aftermarket offered for it. Learning the SS were awd with power made me want it even more and after seeing the cool things that members on SSS.com were doing i had to find one. Finally one day (november 30th 2004) i finally found a SS in black. It was located about 100 miles away and it was pre-owned with 8k miles on it. It was formerly 2005SSr6speed's truck. He had put a good mark cowl hood and a custom roll pan on it. SO after some bargaining i finally bought it for 29k out the door. I then found performance trucks.net after the performance mod started kicking in. I started off with all of the basic bolt on mods such as, headers, intake, tune and exhaust. I also had to do some visual mods to the SS because i wanted something that looked as good as it was fast. So i went with some forged 22' inch wheels, Baer alumasport brakes, and a drop kit. This was still not enough, i then wanted more power. I found a Vortech supercharger kit that was being sold that included a lot of extras. So i had no choice but to buy it. It also included a cam and i put that in before i installed the blower. That got me running low 14's on 22-inch wheels. I finally installed the blower about a month later. This got me running high 12's on 22's and when i felt the power the joy it brought me was indescribable. After a few passes the tranny finally didn’t want to take anymore. I took my truck to the Toy Shop in Pomona Ca. They did some awesome work and my trans has held up ever since. I then set my new goal to an 11 second e.t. So i found some lightweight 18-inch wheels and smaller tires. With these i lost almost 1/2 second the 1/4 mile. This gave me and 12.003 e.t and that’s all i could ever get out it. I then found a deal on an upgraded supercharger that would bolt in place of the curretn one i had( S-trim to T-trim) and this blower was not only more efficient and allowed for more boost but it also made the cool blower sound.I took it to the track with this blower but i discovered that it was leaking oil and the bearigns were going south. I deceided to run it for the day just to see what it could do. I ran drag radials this time around because traction was starting to be an issue even with awd. The best i could manage was a 12.1 with a horrible head wind and belt slippage. So i deceided to start swapping the 22's back on putting the bed cover back on and getting ready to leave. I heard the last run call so i wanted to see what she would run with the extra weight and bigger wheels. I lined it up and launched at 2500 rpms with hardly any spin. the truck felt like it pulled hard all the way to the finish line. by the time i had started to turn around after the traps i heard my cell phone ring. 11.9 are all i remember hearing . I had finally reached my goal even with the 22's. The mods the truck currently has Performance: Vortech T trim (Race) supercharger 3.1 pulley Maxflow blow off valve Nitrous Express efi wet kit (50-150 shot) 860 nitrous bottle heater (built into mount) Nitro daves nitrous switch panel 3-gallon intercooler icebox big 3(upgraded power, ground and alt wires(I/0 gauge) relocated optima yellow top battery Mototron 60lb injectors Fluiddyne heat exchanger w/e-fans and Nitrous purge Toy Shop Built 4l65e TCS 2800 stall Tru-cool 40,000gvw trans cooler MSD plug wires Ngk tr6 cold range plugs (gapped to .035) Custom fabbed cold air intake/fiberglass air box Magnaflow dual in/out 3" muffler w b built in X pipe Magnaflow metallic catalytic converter(now gutted) Pacesetter Long Tube headers Doug’s Electric guillotine Cutouts 2005 Gm Electric fans 160 Thermostat TA Performance 10 bolt girdle Optima yellow top 200-amp alternator Alumasport 14 inch Baer brakes Stainless Steel braided brake lines Autometer phantom 2 boost and fuel press gauges Pinned crank Magnavolt boost-a-pump 255 lph walbro fuel pump Ported throttle body Throttle body Coolant bypass Tuned using HP tuners pro lm1 wideband Centerline 18's(track only) 305/45/18 Nitto Drag radials(track only) Appearance Modifications True Fire Paint job (Starbucks Customs) Gaylord speedsturr bed cover BSER custom roll pan w/hitch McGaughy 2-3.5 deluxe kit Beltech bump stops Beltech 6*shims Beltech nitro active shocks(front/rear) Precision billet grill Custom Chromed bumper ducts Goodmark cowl hood Shopman1 bowtie Chrome SS Emblems Shaved tailgate Motoforge 22's(22x10) powder coated black Toyo proxes 305/40/22 5000K Philips h.i.d. kit Hotchkis anti-sway bars (for lowered truck) Aeroforce interceptor gauge Valentine1 Radar detector Smoked tails Smoked led third I now have set my new 2007 goal to be the first 10-second SS silverado. So i sent the blower to get rebuilt and unfortunately i was forced into buying a brand new unit. I also deceided to buy a nx wet nitrous kit to get the truck going faster and help cool the intake charge temperatures with a small 50 shot to start off with. A few days before track day we were tuning the last few things and the worst thing happened . The bone stock Lq9 motor deceided it had enough. After looking at the logs we figured it was partly caused by going lean. Realizing the fuel system is also a weak link going down to 52 psi from 60 at wot was something that needed to be addressed. The truck is getting a newly designed return fuel system and a new 370 cubic inch motor. 370 consist of 6.0l iron block .03 over diamond forged 15cc dished pistons eagle 3.622 forged crank probe i beam light weight forged 6.125 rods patriot stage 3 heads yella terra 1.7 rockers ARP main studs, rod bolts ,head studs and balancer bolt comp push rods comp billet timing chain futral cam 216/222 114+3 547/589 CR 9.25-1 fuel system/air intake magnafuel boost ref FPR Magnafuel Filter dual walbro 355's return swap -8 ss feed line, -6 return Edelbrock vic jr polished intake edelbrock fuel rails intake elbows custom 90 elbow 90mm tb/adaptor harness to allow full range of 90mm tb ls2 90mm tb custom nitous spray bar inside intake. Holty
AUTOGUY Truck was purchased 12/12/2003 Used with 3,100 miles on it from a friend that owns a Dodge Dealership. It belonged to a friend of one of the sales Managers, and it was traded for a 3/4 ton Dodge Ram due to a job change of the previous owner. I drove it daily for the first couple months, and then decided to keep it clean and never drive it in any bad weather or even rain, so not it is almost 3 1/2 years later, and I only put 8,000 miles on it since purchase. Since I own an Aftermarket Accessory Business, there was no delay in getting working on this truck. Here is what has been done. Holty
kelleyperformance I received my SSS in June 2006, brand new. At first it was just going to be a dealer demo, as all my previous vehicles were. I only had a few mods in mind, all very simple. They needed to be simple in order to sell the vehicle at the end of its 4,000 mile demo service. It began small, with a CAI and a BBK 80mm TB. I had already tuned it, of course, and was constantly messing with it. I made 293 whp. After about a month, I had lowered it 1"/2", and put some 22" Eagle 026 wheels and tires on it. I soon became bored with the power, and bought a radix blower. Not even a month after the blower was installed, I killed the slush box. I then made my own trans similar to the FLT 5, using FLT for strength. From there the cycle continued, starting with a cat-back and not ending until the engine block was the only thing factory in the drive train. Of course, after this much I realized I wasn’t going to sell this one. After enduring the extremely noisy setup for too long, I decided to end the piston slap for good. The engine was rebuilt with GM Performance Parts, including dished LQ4 pistons with valve reliefs. Today the truck puts down over 502 whp and 517 wtq, and I still have plans to add more power. Mods are as follows: Performance/Suspension: 502whp/517wtq Magnasun Intercooled Eaton MP112 Supercharger SFPHQ 2.85” Supercharger Pulley (Performance) SFPHQ 3.20” Supercharger Pulley (Towing) K&N 77 Series Cold Air Induction NGK TR6 Spark Plugs (.035”) Belltech 3” Drop Leaf Springs Belltech 2” Drop Spindles Belltech Nitro-Active Shocks GroundForce Adjustable Drop Torsion Keys HPTuners Custom Dyno Tune Custom Dual 21/2” Magnaflow Exhuast (Dual Split Side Exit) Dynatech 13/4” Long Tube Headers GMPP 6.098” Connecting Rods Lingenfelter Connecting Rod Bolts GM LQ4 Teflon-Coated Pistons GMPP LS7 Lifters Lingenfelter Ported/High Pressure Oil Pump Yank TT2600 Torque Converter GM Performance LS2 CNC 250cc Cylinder Heads Lingenfelter GT2-3 Camshaft MSD 58lb Fuel Injectors Mr. Gasket 160o Thermostat Walbro 255lph In-Tank Fuel Pump Magnaflow High-flow Catalytic Converters BBK 80mm Throttle Body Baer Alumisport Brake Kit (Front) Baer Disc Conversion Kit, Alumisport (Rear) Transgo HD-2 Shift Kit B&M Transmission SuperCooler Sonnax “Superhold” Servos, Pin, Springs Sonnax Kevlar 2-4 Clutch Band FLT “Beast” Sunshell Kit FLT Racing Forward/Reverse Clutch Packs FLT Racing 3-4 Clutches Transgo Zinc-Plated Valve Body Spacer Plate FLT Cyro-Treated Sleeved Input Drum Exterior/Interior: 20% Windshield Tint 5% Window Tint Phillips 6000k HID Lighting (9006) Luminics Titanium 125 Watt Bulbs (9005) Silverstar “Stealth” Bulbs Trenz Polished GM Bowtie 22x9.5 Eagle 026 Chrome Wheels 305/40/22 Toyo Proxies NuImage Stainless Face Gauges AutoMeter Ultralite Boost Gauge AutoMeter Ultralite Air to Fuel Gauge US Speedo Blue/Stainless Gauge Needles SnugTop Fiberglass Tonneau Cover Recon “Smoked” LED Third Taillight Carriage Works 5-Piece Billet Grill Custom Antenna Delete Custom Shaved Tailgate Custom “Supercharged” Badging Sound/Electrical: 1300 Watts RMS Eclipse 6600 DVD/Navigation 6.5” Head Unit Eclipse Rear View Camera GM 165 Amp Alternator Dual Optima Yellow-Top Batteries “Big 3” Wiring Upgrade Eclipse Sirius Satellite Radio Custom iPod Interface (With Video Input) Kenwood eXcelon 1000 Watt Monoblock Amplifier 2x Infinity 12” Kappa Perfect 1600 Watt Subwoofers JL Audio A4300 4 Channel Amplifier (300/4) JL Audio ZR-650 CSi Component Speakers Polk/MOMO 4x6 Component Speakers 2 Gauge Monster Power Wire 10 Gauge Rockford Fosgate Speaker Wire
