Take out steering bolt

Seperate the 2 shafts

Stroke the intermediate steering shaft. Back and forth at a medium pace.

Do not rotate the steering wheel. a few degrees is OK, just dont spin the dang blasted thig 360

i got so excited when i saw this and finally can get rid of that sound, i ran outside like 10 minutes ago and its 2 am here and its 28 degrees and snowing. i had a flashlight socket set, 4 shirts, 2 pairs of pants hunting boots (dont know why), 2 beanies face cover, 2 pairs gloves, thermal underwear and thats about it. i did it in the damn cold and yay!!!!! no more gat ass clank

 

 

yes there is snow in texas btw. AUSTIN, TX that is

i cant believe i found this thread! I have been trying to locate my "clunk" for a freaking year! thought i did something when i lowered it. Im actually GLAD to see its a common problem. Ill be taking care of this tomorrow. BTW, i hope your all happy! there are ALOT of motorcycle sites im neglecting to find all this cool stuff here!

mine squeeks? any suggestions or same thing?

 

 

 

 

yes i have a squeek to. but not a clunk. its worse when i turn left and just once and while when turning right. does this fix that to? can you add more grease inside the shaft before putting back together?
