BigTex
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110776 Its the same cam BenKey installed a few weeks ago. Its a good proven cam for these trucks. Gains in the mid and upper rpms and no real loss down low. Aggressive idle. Normal price new is around $375. This is a great price he's selling it for. bens_piano
How much of a gain will this provide to a 6.0 engine? Does it require stiffer springs for the valves? It is hard to believe that it does not rob power on the low end with those specs. Thoughts?
BenKey
Not too many thrilled about swapping out a cam, huh?
slimsoftball
I wish I would have seen that a week ago. I have that same cam sitting in the garage, just came yesterday.
bens_piano
Hey Benkey, How are you liking this cam? Did it come before the forced induction?
BenKey
Before the s-chgr, yes. It by itself really woke the truck up. Truck is about the same in the low end, but once the RPMs start getting up there, the truck is much stronger over stock. It was the single biggest "feel" in power gained, over anything that I had done to date. It's a good cam that doesn't require a new program, which is great. BigTex
Its not my cam. It is a good option for these trucks. If anyone is interested in saving a couple hundred bucks, then take the time to register over there and send the guy a PM.

Fun Guy
Hmm, I guess the only thing holding me back now would be the prospect of my first California smog check....
vdrumright
You think I could sneak this by the warranty police?....lol I only have 3,000 mile on my truck. How much do you think a shop would charge me to install this?
BigTex
I had a cam installed on my 99 for $350 including the spring install. Not too bad. It runs strong in a 5.3 too. Many 5.3 guys have seen 30 HP at the wheels. Just like BenKey said, it is going to be one of the only mods that you do that you can really feel the difference. It physically changes the attitude of your trucks engine.
