Admin Mervz Posted September 16, 2002 Admin Report Share Posted September 16, 2002 From what i've been hearing, the AWD is one of the most debatable features that will be placed on the SilveradoSS. So, what do you people think? Leave it, ditch it, or make it a selectable option?
CaddyXLR
It would be nice, but it would be alot better if it had more hp and torque to pull the added weight.

AWD would make that truck weigh a sh$$ load. But like i voted for. Make it an Option. Not everyone will want it.
C5SilverBullet
Make it an option, to much weight.
SSR4ME
I don't want it and it is stupid. If it is a option, I bet it doesn't hit the 10% mark.
Murtaza
Make it an option.. even though if I were buying an SS I would buy it with AWD
454ss
It's good for some but not for all so I say make it an Option.
bubba29
its about time gm gave us something to replace the 454ss. 345 hp and 380 ft lbs. of torque are pretty good ,i think jon moss, and his crew could squeeze 425 poniesout of the 6.0L V8 if they wanted to. Murtaza
380 ft lbs of torque isnt enough torque to outrun the lightning... needs more of a 450 hp and 500 lb-ft... just give it more torque and I'll be happy
ChrisNJ
Definitely don't want it. And is the only reason I didn't buy the C3. Make it an option, or not have it at all. Much rather want (and really like) the current Auto4wd selectability.

howardl
I just bought my ss a week ago and the awd is the reason I bought the ss over the ford hotrods. It will handle the mud and snow I don't have to park it in the winter like I do the vette. It keeps the truck lower than the 4wd trucks, if it performs like I think it will this will be perfect for me. Every one that has seen it loves it.. FalconPilot
AWD is what sold me on this truck. I have been driving a 2wd modified S-10 for 7 years. Yes it is fun to slide the rear out on every corner, but traction is what makes you go fast. No traction, no go fast! The SS is the first truck I have had that can do everything. The best is to come to a stop where you have to turn. Just mash the throttle and then turn! In the S-10, you had to straighten the truck before you applyed power. I live around a lot of dirt roads, grass and snow. The truck is used to hall firewood, hay trailers, tow airplanes, and go FAST. not having to think about shifting into 4WD is worth a lot. I would say I use the AWD over 50% of the time. Just my humble opinion
