j4nash
you could use it like no2 but it would be cheaper and safer. i am not sure that i need n2o because i am only looking to get about a 50hp gain. so couldn't you just use co2 some how. BigTex
Nitrous does a couple of things - It super cools the air temps and adds oxygen to the air fuel mix. Spraying CO2 would hinder combustion more than aid it. Yes, it might cool the air down some. But, isn't CO2 used in fire extinguishers?
j4nash
it would just be more cold incoming air. you would not have to wory about your engine. so it shoud be safer than nos.
j4nash
I don't know for sure but just was thinking of a way to gain more hp. maybe this idea would not work. Someone give some more impute.
j4nash
just got this info from another board By using CO2 you will actually reduce your power. Even though you are making the air more dense through cooling it you are filling your combustion chamber with an inert gas leaving less room for air and fuel. Any increase in density of the air charge will be negated by the decreased chamber volume. One would think that because CO2 has 2 oxygen atoms and N2O only has one that CO2 would provide an environment for even better combustion than N2O. Truth is that the two Carbon Oxygen double bonds are so strong and the molecule so stable that CO2 is an inert gas. guess my idea was no good
dcairns
How about propane, or just compressed air? Porpane would provide some cold fuel. Compressed air would supply a shot of cold air to the intake.
danman
Propane is used in Diesels like N20 is in gas. note sure it would help.
