zo6 vette heads? ss

Recommended Posts

They will bolt on and work, may need some tuning. The LS6 head is the same design as the LQ9 heads on the SS but with a smaller combustion chamber, so you are going to raise the compression ratio. Idont have the book with me that has the specs. A friend of mine is building the same engine only cause he has a SS engine and a set of Z06 heads and cam sitting in his garage, he is going to put it in his 99 Silverado.

243 casting is around 64cc

317 casting is around 72cc

both flow the same and have same valves

you would gain HP from compression and it would be around 10.8:1

so possibly a net of 20hp from the gain of compression

I didn't calculate, but 10.8 looks way low to me... it should raise it more than that.
