zippy Posted November 2, 2005 Report Share Posted November 2, 2005 a 160 stat is not too cold for your truck until you get into temperatures that are in single digits and below. at that point your biggest problem is oil temperature. the engine will keep the oil too cold if you run the 160 stat in single digit and lower temps. with as easy as the thermostat is to change though you can run the cold one in the warmer weather and change it back when winter arrives. 20 minutes of time once a year isn't so bad if it's a must to run the warmer one in the cold time of the year. no point in running the 195 all year just because of winter.
