BadRedSilveradoSS
I've always used 93 octane....it's a higher compression engine (10:1) than the regular 6.0L, and it runs a lot smoother. I really notice the difference. Joseph

SilveradoSS04
I always use Amoco 93 Octane. That's the highest around here except for the 103 octane that's almos $4.00 a gallon!
Woffski
Running 93 from Sunoco. Runs good.
jonathan290
I generally use 89 with no ping or knocking. I'll throw in 91 octane every now and then, but can't tell the diffence.
383ss
I think it's a waste of money. I ran 87 when I dyno'd and it put down 295rwhp and 318rwtq. I've run 92 also and there was NO noticeable difference in performance and NO difference in gas mileage. they BOTH got 12.5 MPG the compression ratio really isn't that high and there's not much timing in it at all. When I get LS1Edit done that will be different though and I'll run 91 then.

Tom Parsons
My son was abducted by alieans when he was 13. The boy they put in his place filled my SS with 87 octane right before we were to pull our boat up to Lake Arrowhead. I told the vehicle I was Driver 2 and ran it out like an old lady not from Pasadena. Had no problem then, but the cheapest 91 around SoCal now is $2.45 and I may try 89 when I'm not going to cruise up the hill. I don't like holes in pistons. Hopefully when my son comes back, he won't either.
