Maximum gearbox torque of 4L65E?

I found an article on the C6 vette and it says the 4l65e torque capacity is 670 lb-ft. I also found through searching that the gearbox torque capacity is 670 lb-ft. What's the difference between maximum gearbox torque and how much torque it can handle from a motor??

But they also do speak about a rearwheel drive... Perhaps that's the difference.

i'm not sure what you're actually trying to get at, but the 65E in stock form can't handle 670ft lbs. of torque.

 

 

Just trying to figure out what the term maximum gearbox torque means for my never-ending quest for knowledge. Yeah, the maximum engine torque is 380 lb-ft according to GM. I found this searching.....
