  2. So after 6 wonderful years with my 2003 SSS truck, I came across the opportunity of a life time just so happen to be on my birthday. The dealership I work for got a beautiful 2010 callaway corvette with 4700 miles on it. By the end of the day I was taking the vette home, which brings up this post. After all the pride and hardwork that went into the SS I had to take majority of it out so I do have some item for sale out of my old truck some where used in it some part I never had a chance to put on. So item that are for sale custom dual 12in sub box, DD 2500.1 amp, amp wiring kit 0gauge,kenwood navi double din, bully dog tuner and scanner with flush a pillar mount, comp cam .640@112lsa (brand new never installed), muffler back stock exhaust including tip. 3. So, I have a 2004 SS 140k. Always had a little bit of noise on the passe ger side, bit nothing too bad. Last week, CEL started blinking, car started making a noisey rapping noise, and finally shut off as I came off the highway. I suspected it was a stuck lifter that kept the valve open and was flooding the engine ( I also smelled gas in the exhaust btw). It also never gave a code on my code reader, which was weird.I got it home and started to disassemble foen to the lifter. Found one worn lifter on the pass side, but nothing huge. Then looked down the hole at the cam and saw that one of the lobes saw half way broken off. FML... I started to take off the front and pulled the cam out and it was shot. I also noticed my timing chain was very loose, but the teeth on the gears weren't too bad. Here is where I need help: 1) I am the second owner of the truck and the milage is pretty low all things considered. Is it worth trying to contact Chevy and make a stink about it. My guess is that the Cam was defected when the truck rolled off the line. If it was just some scraping or a chuck out of it, then I wouldn't think about it. The fact os that half the lobe broke off and I fished it out the oil pan. That is hardened steel and how the hell it broke like that has yo be a defect in the part or the steel. Your thoughts? 2) Any tips on installing the new Cam. I have never done one before and don't want to mess it up. Also, once I get the Cam in what about putting on the new timming chain and gears. I HAVE NOT TOUCHED OR MOVED THE CRANK SHAFT! But am worried about installing the gears and chains perfectly so I don't mess up the timing on the truck and the crank. Any tips on how to install the chain and gears and make sure they line up with the crank shaft gear so I don't make things worse once I reassemble and start using the truck again? Thanks for everyones help!
  4. Hi fellas, I need some tips, info, and know how for my 2006 Sierra Denali build. I'm finally comfortable with my income that I'm going to start my build. I want to do a cam swap and get a tune. The cam that I want to use in made to spec for Lingenfelter by Comp. The cam specs are: LINGENFELTER GT11 HYD ROLLER CAMSHAFT 350-383-427 LS1 LS2 LS3 LS6 215/231 .631/.644 118.0 CLThe actual webpage can be viewed at: http://www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=LPE&Product_Code=L210065297&Category_Code=C31#.USIlKo4TtaU Heres my deal. The page for the cam says that springs and retainers are a must for this cam. That is cool. Should I change the pushrods out for some chromoly ones too? Does anyone think this cam will be too aggressive to be daily driven? What I'm going for is a came that sounds nice and lopey and sounds mean and aggressive but still keeps the daily drivability while not affecting my MPG much. Lingenfelter also offers another cam with specs that are: Cam Number Duration @ .050 Valve Lift Rocker Arm Centerline LS1-GT2-3 207 / 220 .571" / .578" 1.7 ratio 118.5 What are going to be the differences in sound and drivability between the two? I plan to get Long Engine Works in Elkton Md to do the swap for me. He is great and been around a long time. He did the milling for my block when I did a complete engine rebuild of my GMC Syclone. So besides what I have stated above, I'm obviously going to need a tune after the swap. I'm not sure, but I don't think Longs can tune it. It there any Dyno shops or performance shops in the Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia area that you would recommend or should I just send my PCM out? Thanks for all the help in advance guys.

  6. I have been doing a lot of reading and research. Trying to figure out which one is best for me. I am not trying to get really high HP, if anything a little gas mileage improvement might work for me as well! Right now the truck is damn bone stock lol... Which saddens me cause I dont have a ton of money to pour into it for what I want. But on to the topic. My main goal for the cam is to get the great sound that everyone loves, I like the good lope but it needs to be a good DD. I was originally thinking of going with a 222/224 .566/.568 112LSA but seems like people are saying its a small cam. I like the sound of a 232/234 but it seems a bit much. I want a big sound but I dont wanna have to do 3000$ of extra crap to it. (Injectors, e fans, tcooler, shift kit) I was just gonna do headers, cai, tc, catback, e cutouts(maybe, heard they can cause probs), and a tune(still working who i should go to out) But other than that, I would like a cam that would destroy my gas mileage. since I already get like 14mpg.... All helpful tips and information would be awesome.
