  1. My truck is a 2007 classic (03-06 body style) single cab silverado. We are converting it to a v8 and have got the motor bolted up to the 4l60e with the v6 converter using a 5.3 flywheel. We got a harness off a guy who claims it came from an 05 silverado. Whenever we started running the harness, we realized that there was nothing there for the electrical fans. After further examining the V6 harness, we realized that it also has a module that looks like some sort of alternator control module. I believe that the sole purpose of this is for the electrical fans?Alternator control module wiring:V6 harness plugs that are missing on the V8 (One goes to fans and other goes to the module):Would I be better off getting a proper harness for a 2006/2007 with electric fans or are the harnesses identical other than the alternator plug and the pinning for the fans (meaning I can pull them off the V6?Also, are all of the harnesses off of any 06-07 2wd 4l60e going to be identical?
  2. Ok this is not a question about a SS truck but is a question about a high HP truck. I recently built a 383 stroker for my 1995 GMC Sierra and I am having issues with the 4L60E transmission holding up. The truck is lifted 7" and has 35" tires with 3.73 gears. I had the transmission built also but the motor is putting out about 475hp and 500ftlbs torque and it blew the sprang after about a month. I am going to be putting a Dana 60 with 4.56 gears in it but I'm not sure if that will solve all my problems or not.. I have considered cryo treating but I've never heard of anyone doing cryo on a sprang or if it will even make a significant difference or not. Basically I'm looking for a way to keep my 60 trans if possible..if not probably considering an 80 swap. I'm just looking for any input information or past experiences, and if you have any time to share it it is much appreciated! Thanks, Matt
  3. So I am planning on swapping to a 4L80e and a guy is selling a built one, but it has a stand alone ECM and wiring. So I am wondering if this is a good way to go or not. Also if I did go this route would the transmission Temp Gauge work or would I have to do something to get it to work. Any info would be great. Thanks!
  4. This is my 2006 Silverado 1500 LT with the L33 5.3L Vortec, 4L60E trans, Volant CAI, and Cortex Superchips Tune. (on lift, not actual level.) Last year about this time my transmission bit the dust. my 2-4 split had seen better days. Although i know exactly why it went ;). Anyways I have had a need for speed and am wanting to make my silverado a pony pusher. I eventually want to get a cam but still havent decided. But i saw on summit racing some shift kits for my truck and didn't know what was good and what wasn't. And I also have looked at a stall York 3000, I think(it has been a while since i last looked). I was wondering if this is; A. nessicary, and; B worth the money.
