  1. I got my General Grabber UHPs in 305/50-20 from TireRack, along with the wheels I wanted. They were competitively priced, good to deal with, and prompt.
  2. Same with my Denali. It feels faster than my SS was with a tune. I am going to run it at the track in October, so I will know for sure then. And I get the mileage you report as well.
  3. Hey, Steve! SilveradoSS.com can use some fresh Mr. P. wisdom. Welcome back!
  4. I joined this site after successfully searching for an answer to an issue that I had (the famous steering "clunk"). This was the first Internet forum I ever joined, and had no experience with forum "etiquette". My rule of thumb was just to use what I would consider common courtesy. If I didn't have something constructive to add, I didn't post. I have to admit that I started doing that after I was "ripped a new one" by a veteran member after responding to a "freebie" post. (Not good for a newbie, I guess. ) We all have opinions and our own ways of doing things. All we have to do is respect the other guy's. We can disagree without being rude or offensive. Just think before you post.
  5. I went with Bilstein shocks in my SS, and they were a big improvement over stock. Not harsh, just more controlled. Many also like Belltech, but I have not used them myself.
  6. I wasn't sure if I would like it. I had only seen pictures, so I wanted to see it in person. Well... it is awesome looking. My wife loved it too, and was discussing what colors she liked best. That being said, it's not going to happen.
  7. Put me down for Saturday, and at least breakfast on Sunday. As usual, I will bring salads, Yuengling, and CHEESE BALLS!
  8. I've said it before... Chevy / GMC have all the parts in their bins to make us a new, GREAT, sport truck. All they have to do is decide to assemble them. It does have to be practical to sell, and our SS's were practical enough, I think.
  9. The dual mode exhaust has been around for a while. In previous models, it opens by vacuum when you hit 3500 RPM. Controlling it with a switch is a new feature offered with the car, but also has been around a while. A kit called "Mild2Wild" allows you to open it with a switch on a fob. I never close mine. One road test of the new Corvette that I read really ticked me off. The writer made some comments that sounded like guys who bought Corvettes were guys that couldn't afford a Porsche. I don't like Porsches, never have. And they are expensive. But, in my opinion, the Corvette has its engine in the correct place.
  10. For those who may not have previously seen this story... jeez I'd love to have a couple of these! http://http://dailynightly.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/15/20040333-field-of-dreams-for-vintage-car-enthusiasts?lite
  11. You likely will still need to paint it with the appropriate color. I had a hard time matching up, but eventually got it right. I got Colorbond Leather, Plastic, and Vinyl Refinisher, in GM Very Dark Pewter. I got it a while back at Summit. Probably still available.
  12. Let's see... it's just over 3 years until I'll be 66, when I can get the full amount of Social Security. I still have a bunch of stuff to pay off before then, but that's what I'm shooting for. I'll still find something to do part time, just not related to Information Technology. I've had my fill of that! My dad retired when he was 52, but he was a NYC employee, so he took a % after 25 years. I have to admit, I'm starting to count the days.
  13. Awesome! Fabulous work.
  14. Unfortunately it's an age-old issue; sticking SS badges on non-SS vehicles. Think about how many car shows you've been to where there are older Impalas and Chevelles that have an SS stuck on them when they're obviously not. Car-wise people will know; most other people won't. There are lots of wanna-be's.
  15. I was very happy with Yokohama Parada Spec X tires for the winter. They are all-season, but I had a set of wheels with summer performance tires, so I used them only in winter. In the NY / NJ area, they worked very well.
  16. Yeah, I was one of those guys that sold my SS for a newer truck. I still miss my SS. I hoping that Chevy will step up and offer a new SS once the new 2014 Silverado is out for a while. Then I'll have another decision to make!
  17. I'd love to see all of you guys again soon. We always had a good time. And no... I'm not ready to run the Corvette yet.
