  1. In NY, it's just supposed to be wet for the next 3 days. Nice weekend!
  2. I can't imagine putting that kind of time into ANYTHING! I would just love to have enough time to care for my SS the way I should.
  3. Thanks for the welcome! Hicksville is on Long Island, about 35 miles east of NYC. You're right about this site. From the posts I've read, and from the the ones I've posted, everyone is very willing to help. And like a lot of us, many seem to be semi-crazy too!
  4. I haven't seen the price go down in spite of all the reports of the drop in crude prices. $2.65 for premium where I go on Long Island.
  5. Hi and welcome form the UK... I have to ask... How much must it cost to ship a Silverado to the UK? Petrol is a bit pricey over there as well, no?
  6. My SSS is my only vehicle. I love getting into it every day.
  7. I got mine at ChevyMall. Here's a link (you'll might have to copy and paste it into your browser, or search on Silverado SS). $135. http://www.chevymall.com/shopping/product/...rd=silverado+ss
  8. I am too old to have a myspace. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nah, I'm older than you! http://www.myspace.com/hankg42
  9. Here's mine: http://www.myspace.com/hankg42
  10. Thanks for the freebie. I'm all the way up to 15 posts!
  11. Yeah, but believe it or not, there's a Hicksville, Ohio too. When our volunteer fire department had it's 100th anniversary, they sent a delegation. and... Thanks for the info. It's liable to be a while before I reach 100 posts!
  12. Thanks for the info. Sounds like a good time. When the event is set, I'll see what I can do. Can you tell a newbie a little about the event? Thanks. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The zippy event is an annual get together in Grand Haven Michigan. ( Where Zippy lives) We've had 3 meets so far. Usually in july. 3-5 days long. We hang out together and meet new members. Last year we had a car show, went to the dragstrip one night, had a cruise down US-31 and then back along the beach of Lake Michigan into downtown Grand Haven, a couple of us played golf and most of us went and played putt-putt, raced go-carts and hit the batting cages. Some of the guys went to Zippys' house and partied one night. It's a good time and always great to meet new people and see others that you don't see often. Everybody I met was great. If you can make it you should come. We had guys from as far as pennsylvania, New York, Wisconsin etc show up last year. Somewhere around 30-35 people total. Look at the pictures of last years event and you'll get some idea of who was there and what we did. <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  13. Quick question... How long are you an "SS Newbie"? When do you become an "SS Member", etc. I'm not in a hurry, just curious. When you're my age, it's hard to consider yourself a newbie at anything!
  14. Can you tell a newbie a little about the event? Thanks.
  15. Joined just under 2 weeks ago. I'm up to 8 posts, but you may have competition for slowest to 100!
  16. I became a supporting member about 2 weeks ago. Where's Gasoline Alley? I'm as much of a pervert as the next guy!
  17. This year, I'm going for wheels and tires. I want the American Racing Vintage Torq-Thrust ST wheels (dark gray spokes). Not sure about tires yet. Need to do some research.
  18. '03 with 28K. I got it with 6700 miles on it. I've driven it from NY to FL twice. Great long distance driver.
  19. I didn't disconnect the battery. Just don't twist the shaft, or turn the steering wheel. I had no problems.
  20. If you look at the steering shaft directly under the brake booster, there is a visible bolt going directly through the shaft. It holds 2 sections of the steering shaft together. It's easy to see. I did the procedure on Saturday, and it worked. I have just over 28K miles on my SS. Hank
  21. Thanks for all the welcome messages. I plan on being a paying member real soon. This site is well worth it. Here's to all of you SSS lovers!
  22. I just found this site today, and figured I'd hunt around for information on my "clunky" steering. Wow, who knew! The whole fraternity has the same problem. I'm going to try the "5 minute" fix that I found, plus look to order a lube "kit". Thanks to the veteran members of the site for all of the info.
  23. I've had my SS for over 3 years, and this steering thing has been driving me crazy for the past year and a half. I only found the SilveradoSS site today, and now I have a good fix to try! Plus it seems there are a bunch of nuts just like me around here. Thanks for the information. I'm going to try this next weekend.
