Well after much info seeking it seems the warm white LEDs will give you the factory look instead of the blue.
-
Has anyone removed the blue tint found on the back side of the factory stock gauge cluster overlay? I soldered in white LEDs in place of the factory bulbs and wound up with blue gauges because of this tint. Truck is a 2007 Silverado Classic crew cab. Looked into new overlays from a lot of different aftermarket companies but would prefer the stock appearance. Just need to remove the blue tint from the backside without mucking up the front side.

I swapped in white LED's this past weekend, that was that seems to have been the easy part. Now the gauges lite up blue which is not what I was after. I would prefer the white instead. The LED's I used do not appear to have any hint of blue when on. One company I spoke with said I needed to buy a new metal face from them in order to have white backlighting again since to OE gauge face has a blue tint on the back that cannot be removed. Anyone else had this issue? When I look online at all the vendors that sell these LED's dash conversion kit's I always see white as well as the blues, greens, reds, etc. How do they do it? Any help would be great. Thanks

Anyone tried this yet?

Well I got my GPS installed and posted a how to on the FSC.com web site in the audio section. It turned out really well, looks factory and even has 5 bars of reception in its location which was a concern to begin with.

Adding Amp to Stock Speakers
aelancaster replied to aelancaster's topic in Radio/Electronics/Security
Need to do this in stages so the amp will come first since I already have it. Will just have to go easy on the volume until I replace the front components. Not real sure about what to do for a sub I have a 10" Alpine but do not want to get real carried away with building a box and don't want to spend a small fortune on a sub box. -
I have a 07 Silverado Classic Crew Cab with the stock two way components in the front doors and i am not real sure what comes in the rear doors. I have already swapped out the head unit for a Alpine CDA-9835 which is driving all the speakers now and it sounds ok. I have sitting in my attic a Alpine 5 ch. amp MRV-F357 that I am thinking about mounting under the rear seat and driving all the speakers with that just using 4 of the 5 Ch. for now. The big question is am I asking for trouble using this amp on the stock speakers, I am just looking for a little more volume not alot of bass. The Alpine head unit is only rated at something like 18wx4 so the power output would be a bit more and possibly cleaner. Thanks for any insight on this. Andy

Wow it sure would be nice to see your pics, but I get the same error message about not being logged in. What's up, Moderators?

I'm not trying to disable the DRL's, I want to be able to use them at dusk and manually turn on the headlights whenever I want them on.
-
Has anyone tried just un-plugging the sensor that sits on the dash?
-
How can I disable this, would like to choose when I use the headlights. I like the look of my amber DRL's at dusk. The amber park lamps just are not as bright.
-
That is a good idea but not really what I am trying to accomplish. I want to be able to have just the DRL's on at dusk, no headlights, no park lights.
