  1. Interested in your truck...ready to purchase and have available funds. Sent you a message. Thanks
  2. Please let us know how this turns out, right now I'm stuck between ordering these and having my stock rims powdercoated. Just don't wanna have to deal with selling the stock rims so I'm leaning towards getting them powdercoated instead of buying new. When are you ordering ? Anyone know if the stock rims are in demand ? Thanks
  3. Has anyone bought these ? I really want the 22's...
  4. Thanks for the replies...looking at 285 or 295 right now. As far as running different sizes on my current setup, I did this after doing some research beforehand but looks like it was a bad choice. Basically the two wheel sizes had identical sidewall height and radius, and were only off by .1 inch in diameter so I thought everything would be fine.
  5. Apologies in advance for all the questions, first time upgrading wheels on my '03 SS truck. Currently have Pirelli Scorpions - 305/50 in back and 275/55 in front, for some reason the driver front tire has completely worn the inner tread so it's time to replace all four I guess. Didn't even notice this until it was too late, not sure what the issue is but I'll get it checked out before the upgrade. I've been reading all the posts here and I've narrowed it down to the matte black 20's or 22's here http://cgi.ebay.com/...1#ht_742wt_1167 unless I can get my hands on some of those cyber grey rims. Here are my basic questions, sorry for the lack of knowledge. 1. Will 22's look bad on a stock height SS - I see most people lower them before putting them on. Any warnings about bigger rims on a stock truck ? 2. Is it OK to tow about a 4000 lb trailer with these rims ? I'll be towing about 3000 miles R/T twice /yr. 3. How will different revs / mile affect the truck - will more revs produce worse gas mileage ? With 22's I would assume a little better mileage / less wear per mile or would it be the opposite due to more tread / resistance on the pavement ? 4. Recommended tire size for a stock height truck ? I see allot of people going to 305/50's but that may be a tad aggressive for a stock setup. Clearance issues ? Seen so many posts I'm trying to get a clear idea of what's best for looks and reliability. Thanks to everyone,
  6. Interesting...72k miles on the truck, fronts look brand new but have never been touched unless they were done prior to the 10k mark when I bought it (doubtful). Thanks for the info.
  7. Well, I caved in and went to my local mechanic, mainly because I'm in the middle of working a fuel issue on my other car and just ran out of time. Long story short the rear pads / rotors were pretty shot so at first we were hoping a swap of those and then a bleed would take care of the problem. It did briefly... turns out there was a tiny pinhole leak coming from one of the brake lines as well. Very strange since there was no fluid on my driveway. Anyhow, bad portion of line replaced, new rears and back to normal. $270...wish I could have done it myself but the rotors were extremely rusted out and it would have taken me forever to find that leak. So why did the rears wear out so much quicker, and why the heck were the rear rotors completely rusted out when the fronts look new. Front pads are almost perfect. Could this be a proportioning valve issue ? I'm assuming we have these on our SS's. Thanks again for all the assistance.
  8. Thanks for all the replies. First thing will be to bleed this weekend, the more I think about it I am leaning towards air getting in from sitting on the decline somehow. Will also check the vacuum line to the brake booster. Keeping my fingers crossed...thanks.
  9. That was the first check - fluid was full. Very puzzling...
  10. Very interesting (and scary) issue...a couple weeks ago I was on a steep decline sitting at a light, my foot was in the brake pedal pretty hard. After about a minute the pedal went almost to the floor and the Service Brake light came on. The light went off on a start / stop and ever since the brakes have felt very mushy. This past weekend it happened again in regular driving, so it's parked now for fear of getting in an accident. The truck still brakes but the pedal goes almost the the floor and it's very tough to stop. I was thinking of bleeding the entire system, (no leaks that I have seen), maybe some air got into the system when I sitting on the decline some how ? Replacing pads at the same time would probably be a good idea even though they look ok. Any suggestions as to what could have happened / how to troubleshoot ? I'm not a brake guy by any means. Thanks in advance ! Meloyelo
  11. Wondering if you got your cover yet, and if so, does it fit nice ? Good build quality ? I just ordered one from the same place, was much cheaper than anyplace else I checked. Thanks...
  12. Don't really want to do this but have waaaay to many toys, so if I can't get what I want for it we'll just keep upgrading her I have a 2003 SS AWD, just turned 70k miles. I bought the truck in Dec 2004 with 11k miles from a Chevy dealer in northern VA, so I have put the majority of the miles on the truck. ALWAYS use Mobil 1 synthetic and 93 octane. Exterior mods include the Gaylord Speedstur tonneau cover, tinted glass, and light covers from AVS. It bought the truck with XM and also put the Sirius satellite unit in as well. New tires this yr - less than 1.5k miles on them. They are Pirelli brand, 305's in the rear. Actually got 68k from the original tires ! In January I put the flowmaster big block muffler on, tuned up with MSD 8.5 wires, NGK plugs, have had K&N filter for quite some time. Future mods included moonroof, CAI, headers etc...so if it doesn't sell it's going to get upgraded. I apologize in advance for the very poor pics, went to use the camera last night and it wasn't working, so these are from my crummy phone cam. If someone is interested I will get better pics. You can't tell from the pics but the paint is top notch with some very minor chips on the front, no flaws on the rims whatsoever. The interior is spotless, no tears, rips, stains etc... Never had any issues with the truck, it runs very strong. There is one minor flaw in the lower part of the passenger side door - there is a small kink in the side cladding which is very easily fixable, just haven't gotten around to it. Asking 16,500 OBO, not sure if this is in the ballpark but from what I've seen it appears to be close. Thanks for looking ! Again if there is interest I will get my camera working and get some very detailed pics. Mike Myers [email protected] 407 304 3231
  13. Thanks to everyone, I will check her out this weekend and try to find the culprit.
  14. Good ideas - I haven't swapped the fuel filter yet so I'll give that a shot. What should I clean the maf with ? It's just odd to me that I've driven this truck with all stock equipment for 4 yrs and gotten consistent gas mileage, now I upgrade the basics and lose mpg - it's been a month now. I do buy gas from the same place so we'll change that as well. Thanks !
  15. Was averaging 15.5, now a month later I'm at 14.4...installed MSD 8.5's, NGK plugs, K&N, flowmaster muffler. Also have tonneau cover (probably no diffference) and use synthetic oil, always put 93 octane in. Oh yeah and 70 % of driving is highway. Doesn't make any sense to me ??? Any ideas ? I wouldn't think a custom tune would be necessary for a swap of normal maintenance parts. Truck is an '03 AWD with 70k, driving style is the same - granny driving. Maybe I should break out the seafoam. Thanks, Mike [email protected]
