  1. I'm looking to buy a hydraulic floor jack and some jack stands so I can start doing my own tire rotations on my 04 Silverado SS. How many ton hydraulic floor jack and jack stands are you guys using? When you do it are you lifting an entire end or just one tire at a time? This would also dictate how many ton the hydraulic floor jack is.
  2. I own a 2004 Silverado SS with the duel digital climate controls. I have an issue with the air conditioning. When going down the road the AC is great, it blows out cold air fine. It's when I am driving slow or idling when the AC seems to go crazy. It will start blowing out warm humid air for the most part then may switch to blowing out cold air. I don't think the the freon is bad becuase when it works it's ice cold. It seems like and electronic issue like a bad sensor. Has anyone had this issue before?
  3. Well, perhaps I'll look at some other options then if the OEM's aren't that sought after, thanks.
  4. I have a 2004 Silverado SS and I need new tires. I'm all about OEM so I was looking online for the exact tires that are on it which are Goodyear Eagle LS P275/55 R20 111S. The closest thing I can find are the same criteria but LS2 and 111S B. Is this the new version of the same tire that I have on it now? Here is the link: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/direct/t...ail.do?pc=31670
  5. I have searched online and nearby stores and I cannot find anyone who sells Mobil 1 oil filters. I want to purchase a bunch of M1-206 filters. I can get the Mobil 1 Extended performance synthetic oil at good ol Wal-Mart though but cannot find the M1-206 filters anywhere. Is there an online store?
  6. Anyone know where I could find a set of all weather custom Silverado SS rubber floor mats. Thought I would ask before I bought a generic set at Wal-Mart or something.
  7. Thanks for the info from the guys that actually care in this forum. Obviously I must look like an idiot and it was a stupid mistake. I have always changed my own oil did engine work on my older cars. Lately I haven't with my newer vehicles because I don't have the time anymore, but I wanted to on this one for the aforementioned reason. I realize that not all of the fluid came out and I need to carefully add the new fluid to bring it to the proper level. Just wanted to know ballpark and what the correct fluid is, and now I have it thanks.
  8. I just bought an '04 Silverado SS with 27,000 miles, love the truck!. Last night I decided to change the oil because the information center said to change it. I got my Moble 1 synthetic 5W-30W and a new filter and started in on it. I opened the bolt that I assumed was the oil pan bolt and instead of black I saw red fluid pouring put! Obviously I just drained the automatic transmition fluid. I then found the oil bolt and changed the oil and filter with no problems. Now I am left with the task of finding the correct automatic transmition fluid and the proper amount to pour back into it. I know I can find the right stuff if I look in the manual but I was wondering if there is anything out there that is the best for it. Also, is there no filter for the transmition fluid bucause I couldn't find one under there? Thanks
  9. Wow, thanks for the info guys, I will check out those suggestions and post back my findings. By the responses it looks like the adapter I have is probably the correct one, I just need to figure out whats up with it and verify my wiring, thanks.
  10. I pull a jetski trailer, and with my old car the trailer lights worked fine. With the SS, both tail lights flash at the same time for right turn and left turn. I hook back up to the car and works fine, so I know the trailer is wired properly. The trailer connection is the standard flat plug. The SS came with an adapter that takes the big round plug on the SS down to the flat plug that works with the trailer. Obviously this adapter is the wrong one, where can I get the correct adapter? I would hope I don't have to re-wire the trailer or something. Thanks
  11. Thanks for the info Mr. P. I must say I'm suprised that you said the Moble1 synthetic 5w-30w was junk considering all the posts I've been finding. Just to be sure though, it sounds like the Moble1 synthetic 0w-30w is the way to go. Is that ok to use since my oil cap says 5w-30w? It also sounds like I can run longer than 3K before an oil change, say 4 or 5K. I guess I never understood what the oil weights mean. I know the oil is thicker the higher you go, like 10w-40w is thicker than 10w-30w. I just don't know what the 10 means in 10w-30w. Is it 10w or 30w? Anyway I'll have the dealer change those fluids you described and make sure things are in proper order. Thanks

    Motor oil

Well after a long search I just bought my first Silverado SS. It's an 04 black, all factory original with every option possible, and 27,000 miles, love it. Now I just want to make sure I give it the best maintenance/care possible as the previous owner did. The original owner said he always used Moble 1 and he had some reason for it. I remember he said that the SS's are prone to using oil after a while and the Moble 1 was the best for it to prevent that. Anyway is there a better motor oil out there that everyone uses, and has anyone heard of the SS's using oil, mine isn't yet. Any other tips or things to watch out for because it's still under warranty and I'm trying to find anything wrong with it or anything I should tell the dealer to check out that I'm not aware of that should be looked at. So far the truck seems to drive and run very well. Thanks for any help. Well I read a little further in this forum and found that everyone does seem to be using the Moble 1 synthetic 5W-30. Anything else to check out or have looked at?
  13. Just wondering if still for sale and if it is On-Star equiped. Also you say silver wheels, do you mean they are chromed or are they the original grey. Also is the climate control the digital control or the up and down sliders. Thanks
  14. I am in the market for a used '03-'04 Silverado SS. I test drove my first one the other day and everything seemed cool except for one thing. I noticed that when accellerating from a stop light, when it shifts to second gear it hits hard. There is no ease into second, it just kicks in. The reason I am posting this is because I don't know if this is normal or not. It doesn't seem normal to me but I had a car once that shifted hard like that and it was considered normal for that transmition. Didn't know if the SS had this type of trans or if I should steer clear of this one. It is an '03 with 38,000 miles and the engine doesn't seem to have any modificatons and is stock. I am going to try and test drive another one locally so I have a basis for comparison. Thanks for any input.
