BUYING A 2005 SIERRA DENALI AND I WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT WITH THE EXHAUST AND I AM TOYING WITH THE IDEA OF MOUNTING 2 40 SERIES FLOWMASTERS IN THE SPARE TIRE LOCATION, AND THEN AN X PIPE IN ABOUT THE LOCATION OF THE STOCK MUFFLER OR FURTHER UP. MY THEORY IS IT WILL SOUND SIMILAR TO A CAMARO OR CORVETTE, GRANTED BECAUSE ITS A SIMILAR SET UP. ALSO GOING TO DO LONG TUBE HEADERS. I WANT TO TRY AND GET RID OF THE TRUCK SOUND.. WHAT REALLY MAKES THEM SOUND DIFFERENT IN SOUND ANYWAYS? I SEE VIDEOS WHERE GUYS DO THE LQ9 SWAP IN A CAMARO OR TRANS AM OR CORVETTE AND IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE A VETTE OR T/A WITH A TRUCK ENGINE IN IT. ANY INPUT APPRECIATED! THANK YOU
  2. well we changed pe mode, the commanded fuel setting way out of whack like .50 and 1.20 just to get a reaction from the engine and never changed after zeroed out all the other parameters. like somethin else is keeping it from goin in
  3. zeroed out all those parameters and still nothing out of pe mode????
  4. ya know whats weird is the damn thing shifts super hard in first and 2to 3 sometimes almost seems as if it slips sometimes... and tq management is pulled out of it, even when it was completely stock it was that way. any ideas on that ? im sure we can prolly tune it to make it work right but just wonderin if maybe that means somethin if its stock and acting that way.

  7. is there some hidden ones on the E38?? where should i set the map threshold? its at 15 kpa right now
  8. any other ideas? does pe mode even activated in the 07 up silverado?? changed up all the enablers and got aggressive with the pe mode parameters and doesnt seem to be doing anything???
  9. it is a 2008 silverado crew cab 4x4 3.73 gears. 5.3 flex. exhaust is only mod.
  10. yes that was the case with the throttle position. what do ya think on the dead spot off the line...? sounds pretty typical of factory tuning??
  11. doin some tuning w a buddy of mine semi amatuer at the efi live, tryin to clean up the dead spot on wide open throttle from 0-20 roughly. seems as when you hit the gas from 1700 rpm to 2300 rpm it has no grunt per say "dead spot". have removed torque management, and most of the disablers like traction control... any ideas what to do to clean it up? also seems as if the throttle position only opens to 83% at wide open throttle at all speeds i would think it should 100% at some time but looking for some pointers there. timing seems to be at 20 degrees advanced between 1700-2300 rpm. any ideas thoughts appreciated thanks

  15. so leave transmission pressure levels alone just let the truck adjust??. leave torque management on what percent would you say? and also what would be some basic thing to work on for tuning with that cam? pe mode by rpm is all we have been messin with....
  16. that's kinda what im curious about cuz we just had installed them and torqued em to 30 ft lbs with no rotation of engine. so maybe one is a lil loose makin noise?? its very light noise tho
  17. well i guess max safe rpm?? what can i spin it to regardless of power and just pushrods 7.4 and comp 918 springs. thats all
  18. I HAVE RECENTLY INSTALLED A COMP CAM 581. LIFT 220/224 DURATION 112 LSA +2 IN MY 2006 GMC SIERRA 2500HD 6.0L LQ4 THE TRUCK HAS 4L80E TRANS AND 4:10 GEARS AND 4 INCH LIFT WITH 33X12.50 TIRES AND IS A CREW CAB SO IT IS KINDA HEAVY. I WAS CURIOUS WHAT WOULD BE RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM RPM WITH THIS SET UP AND WHAT KIND OF NOISE IS CONSIDERED NORMAL?? I WOULD SAY I HEAR THE "SEWING MACHINE" SOUND PLUS A LIGHT TICK AS WELL?? ALSO I HAVE A FRIEND AND WE ARE TRYING TO LEARN HOW TO TUNE THIS THING AS WELL HE HAS EFILIVE AND IS A GM TECH SO WE HAVE MOST OF THE KNOWLEDGE FIGURED OUT BUT WANTING TO KNOW WHAT PARAMETERS TO ADJUST PRIMARILY.   19. yeah it idled rough and what not but still managed, but the power was about the same as stock maybe a lil doggier but pretty close.

  21. well got the cam installed all went well. truck definitely has the sewing machine sound which i suppose is normal. i have not had it tuned yet which i plan to have done by this weekend, but im curious on stock tuning i have not noticed any difference in power, is that to be expected without tuning? i would guess that tuning it will completely bring the engine/cam to life???

  23. cant a guy just use wooden dowels to hold the lifters up??
