  1. I do - but it is what it is.
  2. But it's not. That's like saying if my truck had a 500 hp V-10 I would be faster than a SRT-10. You drive what you bought and go from there. I wish you were closer so I could see just how much you would get me by.
  3. My father picked up this old Brunswick Balke Collender table for $200 forty-five years ago. It's a four slate table rumored to be built in the 1870's. I just put new bumpers, felt and pockets on it and it plays real nice. I was told not to touch the wood or it would loose it's antique value. Sorry for the crappy pictures.
  4. I beat a first generation Lightning too. They aren't as fast as people think they are.
  5. That's cool that you did, but Chevy should have put one of those bad boys on right from the factory and made the SS the truck that smoked the others right out of the box.....................
  6. When you factor in what was omitted until the 28th post - "When i raced the lightning the weather condition outside was slick it was lightly raining" - then I could see where it could easily have happened. These trucks don't party in the rain.....................

A coworker that owns a late model Firebird goes around and test drives all the new fast cars and test drove one of those and said it was ridiculously fast. He thought it needed wider tires because he kept breaking the rear end loose. He doesn't like Mustangs, but he was impressed with that one. There are people out there that put badges on their cars to try and impress the uninformed, I've even seen a newer regular cab Chevy with SS emblems on it. I guess he didn't realize that people in the know can spot a real SS a block away. But we also get a lot of F-150's that put on Lightning badges.
  8. I've never weighed it but Truck Trend listed the curb weight at 4,670 lbs. Most Lightning owners remove the receiver hitch and spare tire as a first step to dropping weight. The link below is from Truck Trend's Lightning vs. SRT-10 comparison that provides all the stats about both trucks. http://www.trucktrend.com/roadtests/pickup...s_overview.html
  9. Cool, I'm in the top 3%...................
  10. I also wish Chevy would have stepped up to the plate and built a bad ass SS with a supercharger instead of letting Joe Gibbs build a few. I would have been first in line for that truck for sure. But Ford did make a truck like that with all the other components to handle a supercharger and 450 ft lbs of torque and once I test drove it I was hooked; something about hearing that supercharger whine. I like the SS and think it's a great looking truck and sometimes I really wish I had four wheeled drive.
  11. I've been a member here for three years and I'm not trying to start any shit. As a life long Chevy man I was looking hard at getting an SS when I found my Lightning back in 2005. I'm not trying to knock anybody's truck, but after driving my truck for four years I know how hard it runs and find it hard to believe that the mods the original poster has are going to beat a Lighting that bad if it's running on all eight cylinders. You guys love your trucks and I love mine and I will be happy to race for a beer and drink it with you when we are done.
  12. It would take more than an Volant CAI and an Aero exhaust to beat a real Lightning by 2 1/2 car lengths to 65 mph. Lightnings can go 0-60 in the low 5 second range. There are SS trucks that are capable of beating one, but I'm not buying that SSpoiled18 beat one like he says he did. I'd be happy to give him a shot at a real one if he wants to really see how he stacks up.
  13. Are you sure it was a real Lightning? There are a lot of chumps that put Lightning badges on their trucks and try to pawn them off as the real deal. Just look at all the bogus ones you find on ebay.
  14. Most of the time I try to let that crap go, but after he almost clipped my truck I couldn't. I drove a Prius as a loaner once when my wife's car was in the shop and it was weird. I kept thinking the engine died at stop lights. When I need good mileage I ride my motorcycles. My commute bike that gets 45-54 mpg: My weekend warrior that gets 30-40 mpg:
  15. Don't laugh guys some of those Prius owners feel they are driving hot rods. They are kind of quick from a dead stop compared to regular cars. On the way to work at 5:30 AM I had this pesky little mother slice and dice through traffic one morning, cutting people off like crazy until we finally got to the two lane freeway on ramp. I caught up to him and lit the supercharger in the cold morning air and went sideways power-sliding back and forth as I passed him and beat him onto the freeway. I felt like I just beat up on a kid, but fug the little bastard, someone had to show him he wasn't driving shit.
