  1. Ya i forgot to mention that ive checked the tread (wearing evenly) and air pressure. Was all that stuff hard to install?
  2. I bought them off ebay awhile ago but the seller still has a bunch of them up. I just looked and it says they are XenTech Ballasts.
  3. I have been dealing with this for a while and its become a nuisance. At night, my headlights will only turn on if I flip my brights lever and not automatically, like they should. The brights don't even work anymore because the bright lever controls only the regular driving lights. I do have HIDs, but I have had them for about 4 years with no problems until this starting happening. I did get a dyno tune on my truck and noticed that it started hapenning soon after this was done. Do you guys think they could have done something wrong in the tune for this to happen? Any ideas on how to fix this?
  4. Ive had this problem for a while but havent had time to really address it. When I am driving, my truck will constantly sway around in the lane and shake a little bit. It doesn't just want to drive straight for some reason. This happens all the time, not when just braking. I need new rotors and pads anyways so I just ordered some, although I am doubtful this is the problem since its been going on for a while now. I have had the alignment checked and its still fine also. I do have a bent driver rear rim so Im not sure if that could have anything to do with it. I am pretty sure I did that a while back before this problem started happening though. The only thing I can think of that is wrong is something in the front suspension (maybe pitman/idler arm?). At night it makes me look like I have had a few drinks and I'm tired of getting pulled over because cops think im drunk lol. What do you guys think could be wrong?
  5. ok guys heres the update. I ended up getting a comp cams 208/212 .554/.558 LSA@112 +4 custom grind and comp 918s. I started the install this past weekend and everything went smoothly right up til one of the rocker arm bolts broke off in the head An auto shop was right across the street though so i rolled it across the street and they got it out for me, thank god! haha. I didnt get a chance to finish putting everything back together but friday it will be done and its going to the shop after to get my truck redyno tuned for the cam. I was surprised how smoothly the install actually went considering ive never done a cam install before lol. I had the how-to from ls1howto.com handy though and it helped alot. Im excited to get it all done and finally have a truck again. A circle d 3000 stall tc is my next mod, which I should have by the beginning of the summer hopefully. I already have a trumax tranny cooler sitting in my bedroom waiting to be installed for the tc also. I guess well see what happens when the money starts coming back in for me lol
  6. Ok zippy I've done a lot more research and like the cam you chose for me. So it's a 208/212 .554/.558 LSA@112 but I'm confused what advance I should do it at. I'm thinking +4 as of now because that's what all the XFI cams are set at but idk. What do you think?
  7. good to know man. ya i used a little google magic and found nothing but positive reviews on them so far so that seems to be the way im leaning. The fact that they are local for me definitely makes me more at ease too.
  8. alrighty will do Ok ill see what they have to say. It seemed a little weird to me to but it is one of the two option that you can choose when ordering the tc. Im gonna stop by there this weekend when im in Houston and talk with them about it.
  9. the one i was looking at was a 278mm with a 3000-3200 stall and it was $395. That is a little cheaper than the yanks and it still seems like a solid product to me.
  10. I was talking to a guy at a local performance shop in Houston and he recommended me to Circle D for a torque converter. They look and seem very high quality to me but what do you guys think? http://www.circledspecialties.com/default.aspx
  11. ok cool. i don't have the money for the cam and stuff just yet but when i do ill give you a call about it. an extra hand never hurt anyone lol
  12. Yes by the end of April I should have enough money to do the cam and the converter. After I put LTs and new gears on my truck, adding performance mods became addicting lol. I'm getting a dyno tune on Saturday and the place does free lifetime tunes and limited slip should be put in very soon also. I was looking at the yank tt3000 stall to put in along with the cam. Is that something that is still daily drivable for my truck? Also, what parts should I get in addition to the cam and stall so I can know what the final price would be? Thanks for all of your help zippy!
  13. No it's not that I didn't like it zippy, I was just curious if anybody had experience running different cams in a truck similar to mine. I appreciate your advice and I guess I should have made it know originally that Im not very knowledgeable with cams. What kind of results would I see with the 208/212 .554/.558 LSA112? What parts should I get with the cam? Thanks
  14. I have on 05 silverado 4.8 and I'm a little confused on which cam I should go with? Currents mods include: K&N FIPK CAI, transgo shift kit, 2nd and 4th gear billet servos, 4.10 gears, 160* thermostat (I have E Fans), msd wires, NGK plugs, pacesetter LTs with no cats(ORY) and spintech muffler (all 3"), TSP underdrive pulley, and a dyno tune. I want a cam with a decently lopey idle and good performance. Im thinking about doing a stall while Im at it so what is yalls opinion on the type of cam?
  15. I say no cats. I did the offroad y pipe when I put on my LTs and was really nervous about it because of how bad cops are where I live. After doing it, I love it. I have a single 3" pipe into a dynomax bullet dumped and its sounds awesome! I has such a muscle car sound to it. The rasp is kinda annoying when cruising, but I know thats because I have it dumped. A tip is coming soon so my exhaust will finally be complete. I was surprised with the little to no reaction from cops as well, although I havent punched it past one lol
  16. I ended up getting the NGK G-Power spark plug #3186 and MSD wires #32823. I wanted the Taylors, but autozone didnt have those and I decided the multiangle boot was a better idea for the LTs since I have the stockers zip tied back for the moment lol
  17. I have an 05 4.8 silverado and have recently done some mods to it and figured i might as well change the plugs and wires while im at it. I currently have pacesetter lt headers with no cats into a dynomax bullet muffler 3" all the way dumped, k&n fipk cai, 160 thermostat, shift kit with billet 2nd and 4th servos and a dyno tune is going to be done in the next couple of weeks. I was just wondering what your recommendations would be for type of spark plugs, what gap i should do, and what type of wires to get the best performance?
  18. Just thought i'd add my 2 cents as I installed a set of pacesetter lts and ory pipe this past weekend. Great write up but thought it's worth mentioning that a saw zaw is not an absolute necessity to cut the exhaust piping. I used a 4 dollar hack saw(with a blade that can cut metal) from lowes. I laid under the truck with it on jack stands and cut the piping off right after the cats. Only used 2 blades and it took 10 minutes at the max, with a little bit of elbow grease. I was surprised with how easy it was but i sure beats buying a saw zaw or grinder to cut the piping lol
  19. Here's the link to the fake cats I want to install in the y pipe: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3-0-Non-Cat...s#ht_3342wt_948 It says that the entire cat is 15.75" long, including the piping on the ends of the actual cat. I don't want real cats, I just need something that resembles cats to pass the visual inspection in Texas. Do you think these would fit?
  20. Ok so im going to completely redo my exhaust by installing pacesetter LTs into an ORY and use a Borla XR-1 muffler, but i need cats to pass visual inspection. I have found some gutted cats and want to install them but im not sure which ory will allow enough piping to cut and install cats. Which offroad y pipe should I go with? I have seen a few people say TSP or the pacesetter y pipe but im curious if anyone knows which one will allow cats to be installed.
  21. Would you suggest 3.73s instead of 4.10s? Because i have those laying around in the garage and can switch it if it would be better.
  22. Year of truck:2005 Model:Silverado 4.8 Trans:stock Converter: stock Gear:4.10 Tires: 305/40R22 List of current mods: pacesetter LT no cats with borla muffler, diablo programmer, K&N FIPK Possible future mods: shift kit, torque converter (2600 or 3000), 160 thermostat, dyno tune Goals for truck: more power and responsive, specifically from low to mid Uses of the truck: daily driver on weekdays and drag racing on weekends
