  1. Has anyone gone this route with the 6.0? If so what were the power numbers and what all was done?
  2. I see it's seems to be the more convienent way with less down time to add power? Is that right. I was also thinking most think I'll just add a supercharger and be done with it,and we all know thats just the start of modds to come I figure 7,000 is a close number after all said and done for a supercarger! Gauges, tune, biger coolers etc.etc Anyone know what the 408 cost to build?
  3. Maybe 12.5sec truck is a little uncommon but lets say same question but a mid 13sec truck.
  4. Lets say both are 12.5sec SS trucks. One with a pure built motor with lumpy cam and all the goodies sounding mean. Or one thats a little more mild sounding but supercharged! Times on both trucks being equal. Whats the pros and cons on either? Is it the stealth affect of a supercharged unit that make it more apeailing for most? It seems to me money wize they would be about the same to build? So whats the main reason for picking your poison?
  5. Nash thats it. Thats a nice list you posted skippy, but I don't see where it states 2wheel or all wheel drive truck. At a certain point do you just go two wheel drive for durability?
  6. Also how about most HP and TQ for thoes of you that may not go to the track.
  7. I'm not sure because I had all the fluids changed over to amsoil at the same time and jiffy lube did the work. Well anyway the tranny has been perfect since flushing the high dollar stuff out and putting the cheap stuff back in,go figure.
  8. Just wondering what the RWHP is on the typical 408 upgrade? Whats the approx cost of the rebuild? Can just the 408 make an easy mid 13sec 1/4 truck? I was thinking instead of droping cash into a SC,would it be better to build a stout 408 instead? Just tossing this topic around.
  9. Well after changeing the fluid my tranny feels like it's back to normal. Thats the last time I use amsoil in my tranny. I used the drain plug and over a two day period I drained it and refilled it 3 times. It's shifting perfect now, thank god!
  10. I'm thinking of being a new car salesman at a local dealer and was wondering what kind of money can be made in my first year. I need to no if I can survive the lean times. I hear it's a tough job but it seems that it could be fun?
  11. I just checked out the whipple site and it's all there. It really looks like a nice setup.
  12. I hear the program and electronics are all new along with the new rotor desing.
  13. Also they say they no longer piggy back the ECU. I've heard from some of you that was a draw back in the past.
  14. Hey guys have you heard about the new whipple and programing? It seems the issues people have had are no more, including customer service. After reasearching the diffrent types of chargers I'm wondering why most of you pick the magna charger? It seems to me that the twin screw is far superior then the roots style,am I missing something? They offer more HP per pound of boost. Generates far less power robbing heat and only in severe high heat conditions do they suggest the intercooler. I heard people talk bad about there intercooler why? They claim it drops air temps by 50deg. Can you ask any more from a intercooler? So what am I missing?
  15. Your right that plug is junk. Time for some vice grips if that doesen't work I'll just drop the pan I guess.
  16. Great thanks guys. I'm going to take it in for a check up because the GMC deneli truck won't be out for a year ,not 6month like I was thinking. Thanks very much for the advice guys.
  17. I'm thinking of draining my tranny fluid the cheap way. I am thinking of pulling the plug on the pan. How much fluid will I get out? Should I disconect the tranny line to the cooler and blow air through it to get as much as possible? Any tips? Thanks
  18. The tranny is stock besides the servo. As far as towing this is the first year for the 5,000 trailer besides my 18ft bass boat. I have heared some where amsoil may be to slick for these trannys causeing them to slip? Anyone hear that befor? I'm going to get it flushed tomarrow and put in the regular stuff in and see if I can baby it for 6months or so. I'm also going to take off the CAI and put the stock one back on and program it back to stock. I think the near 100deg heat and towing a heavey load all day long is takeing it's toll.
  19. Hay guys I have an 03 Z-71 suburban with 55,000 on it and for the past 6month from time to time the tranny has felt funny meaning a little slip here and there. Today I was at a stop light and when I hit the gas it stayed still for a second and then took off. My question is should I take the corvette servo out and do a tranny flush and see if I can make it last for 6 months longer befor I trade it in on a new truck or is this a sing that it's going at any time and will leave me stranded some where so I better get it looked at now? I put amsoil in the tranny about a year ago could that be causeing my problem now with the slipping? I tow 5,000 at least 3days a week.
  20. I went over to tirerack and checked on the load rateings for 20s-22's and found they do have a lower load rateing compaired to a 17in tire. It makes me wonder if the tow and hitch rateings have been ajusted for the larger rims? Why I brough this up is because GM and others are starting to offer 20's as an option when buying a new truck but yet the rateings stay the same. So is it the same or do we have to figure out the hard way?
  21. Great whats the hitch load on the SS? I tow a 16ft trailer loaded weights 5,000. Hitch load is 400 to 500lb. Still good to go?
  22. Do you guys know if your tow rateing is effected do to the larger rim size? I guess it may come done to the tire load rateing? Has anyone checked into this?
  23. OK theres still hope being the GMC line up should be diffrent? Thats what I've been told any way. So I'll wait and see what happends.
  24. I can't believe I've been waiting two years for this truck ! I'm really lost for words because I'm so pissed off.
