  1. Dam chase that chic is hot OK cool I was just makeing sure my truck would still start. I'm going to test out the sound quality diffrence between my alpine deck and the stock Bose deck. Dealer say it's a night and day diffrence? All thoes dam adapters you need to make things work I want to make sure it's worth giveing up my 6disc changer for not to mention the price for the adapters. Thanks.....
  2. Hey guys what is going to happend when I disconect the bose head unit and just tuck the wires back in there? 1-on star Gone 2-Steering wheel controls gone Is that it? Any thing else I should know about.
  3. Well I ended up going all jl. I walked into a dealer last week and to my supprize they had a blow out sale on the 12in W3 for 119.00. Santa bought me the XR componets for up front and the XR two ways for the rear fill. Santa also bought me the 450.4 Rockford fosgate to run both sets of speakers. I am useing the RF 325.1 for the sub. I also got some dynomatt as a stocking stuffer Next thing to do is get rid of the factory deck. I hear the pac adapters that you use for a new deck and also the one that does the on star and wheel controls . I see reports of people not likeing them because of speaker pop etc. Can anyone verfiy these claims? Happy hollidays ......RXPorlando
  4. I seem to get more Confused the more I read up on this stuff. Heres my problem thats driveing me crazy What do you guys recommend me do.......I need to buy an amp to run the doors. I'm getting a good set of componets for the fronts. Should I buy a four channel just incase I want to add the back door speakers in the future or buy a two channel just to run the fronts. I read like you have and it seems alot of people don't like rear fill at all and think just a good set up front and a good sub makes for better sound quality. When it comes to stageing and keeping the front stage up front woulden't rear door speakers screw that all up with mids and highs behind you? Then you got the guys that say they like the feeling of being surrounded by the music. Well I don't know what I like? With the room I'm dealing with the four channel amp delivers about 65 rms watts and the two channel will give me 100 rms watts. It seems 100watts seems to be good solid power for feeding front componets. Woulden't I loose sound quality pushing 65 over 100? I'm getting the jl XR componets. Two weeks ago I was like I'll throw speakers in the doors and push them with my 30rms amp and be done with it. Now I know thats way under power for these speakers so I'm faced with buying a new amp with more power. This crap is getting crazy..... Dazed and confused....Help!!!!!!
  5. My truck is a suburban and the rear doors are 5 1/4in speakers. I'm wondering if I should skip the back doors all together and add 6x9 instead mounted in the back by my sub woofer. Do you think this will give me better overall sound? Or should I just do the 5 1/4 in the rear doors and be done with it? Thanks.........orlando
  6. Is this inportant when chooseing a woofer with 400 rms watt amp. I see most brands are 86-87 and others are in the low 90s like MTX,Infinity etc. Does it have anything to do with sound quality? Thanks...Scott
  7. Dracko does that mean there not that great? What do you have?
  8. Holty ....any tips on the install of the dyno matt? Do you really need the roller? What do you think of the speakers I listed up above? Scott....
  9. What do you guys think of these speakers that I'm getting ready to buy in a few days? jl....XR650-CSi componets for the front doors jl.......XR525-CXi for the back doors Both together are just over 350 bones at sonix electronix. Getting good compoinets for the front with good mids and smooth tweeters is what I'm looking for. I have never heared these so please voice your oppionion. Please tell me if there is better set in that price range. My 4channel is perrty weak at 40rms per channel so keep that in mind. Is dyno matting the doors worth doing for better mids and bass? This is great thanks for the help....Scott
  10. Bose is junk. The speakers are like 15watts per paper woofer in the doors. I don't think you can get much cheaper then that. For most that don't know any better seem to think it sounds great. It also comes with a 6in paper woofer for the bass The bose amp is about the size of an old 8 track tape and that maybe pushing it a little bit.
  11. The bass I'm looking for is one that blends into the system, rather then one that over powers the system. Does that make any sence?
  12. Thank you for the indepth info. It's nice to get a solid responce Mr P. How do you feel about the punch p-3? After I bought it I started hearing people say it has poor sound quality among other thing is that true? I've been trying to find that perfect bass for over a month and just don't know what else to try. I've built 2 sealed boxes rangeing from .71 witch is the spec for that woofer and one that was at the high end of the woofer at 1 cu ft sealed box. I've tryed poly fill,no polyfill in both and even added wood to the larger one and shrunck the internal size in increments. I'm starting to wonder if 400 rms watts is just not enough to make a sub sound good in a suburban because of the size? Or would two 10in subs be better for my application at lower volumes to achieve a smooth crisp bass that will fill the truck. Or is it my sub is just junk and I need a better sub and a good 600 watts rms amp to get the bass quality in such a large truck? Thanks for your help.....It's starting to drive me crazy and my wife is a little worried Scott...... PS- Does addeing wood to shrink the volume inside the box affect sound quality at all, compaired to building the box at that certain spec? In short does multible layers of MDF affect the sound quality of the box compaired to a single 3/4 made box at that same size?
  13. I have read around the net that 8in subs can sound really good and sharp for heavey metal/hard rock etc. Has anyone tryed two 8in sealed and compaired them to one sealed 10in? I'm trying to find out if it's worth trying, Thanks........
  14. Looking for a HU that has ipod hook up and sirus radio. What other features should I be looking for in a HU? Thanks for all the help guys.
  15. My goal is to buy a nice set of componets for 2bills or so. The hard part is finding a two way for the back doors that will blend well with the componets. Thanks for any help...
  16. Problem solved. I wired it to the pink wire so it shuts down but still kept the switch so I have the option to turn it off if I want to. Thanks for the pink wire info.
  17. So this pink wire is at the bose amp under the console?
  18. I should of said when the truck is off and I forget to turn the amp switch off the sub pops about every 3min and never stops unless I turn the switch off or turn the truck on.
  19. Mine has been going crazy for the last year. For the last two weeks thoe my MPH gauge has not moved at all and my oil pressure gauge sometimes maxes out for no reason. I think it's on it's last leg with no codes. I'm guessing that means the cluster is shot?
  20. If you get rear ended buy a car chances are you will go up in smoke. Just a thought.
  21. Share what your favorite woofer is and how many RMS watts it's pushing. My boy just stuk a drill through my new punch 3. I just installed it today Whats the main diffrence between a 10in over a 12in in a sealed box? I drive a z71 suburban and listen mostly to rock with a little rap. Thanks
