  5. So as many of you know, my truck 03 SSS caught fire on Feb 4, 2008 and nearly took my house down with it. About a week after the fire, a fire investigator came and assessed my truck to determine the cause of the blaze and after conducting all necessary test he concluded that the front differential/constant velocity (CV) area on the driver's side was the hottest and that area was most likely the point of origin. The truck was then shipped to Helena, MT and the fire investigator met with a representative from GM who also looked at the truck, and came up with a similar cause. From what i have heard from the investigator, this isn't the first fire in that area on these style trucks (not neccessarily the SS but in 4x4 1500 silverado's). My truck had been in the Chevy dealership 4 or 5 times for a noisy front differential, all of which they replaced the front carrier bearings, and the last time they replaced the whole front differential and went through the transfer case. I dont think the dealership is at fault, its just one of those things that happens. Something that i thought would never happen to me. so take this info and use it to protect yourself and your truck. I'm not saying it will happen to your truck, but there is a possibility that it could, so take some precautions and be on the safe side. -Cody
  6. Those should work for you. I believe the two holes are for the 1-2" drop.
  7. As the title says, I'm selling my 06 TBSS. I've had it for a couple of months and am thinking I want something different already. The truck has every option, leather, Navi, sun roof, dvd, awd, tinted windows, etc. I put a New Era Performance CAI on it about 2 weeks after I bought it, and have a Diablo Sport tuner with logging/usb cables to hook up to your pc. I have Belltech lowering springs in a box that i never got a chance to install, I was waiting to buy DJM controll arms, but will include the springs in the sale. The truck has been de badged and has red SS inlays. I am asking $27,000 and will consider reasonable offers. Current book value is aroud $30k so this is a great deal for someone. If interested please PM me for more information or e-mail me at [email protected] . Truck now has 19,4xx miles Thanks
  8. I'd recommend those who have many modifications done to their truck, that they take out a custom insurance policy on the truck and get the aftermarket stuff covered. ( I think Holty has one) You end up paying a little more but in the long run, IF something were to happen to the truck you're covered and you dont get screwed out of hundreds if not thousands of dollars. I ended up loosing about $4k in stuff on my truck when its all said and done, but I got about $1000 more than what i paid for it in Aug 2005. However if i had not done anything to the truck the insurance would have gave me book for the truck and nothing more, and still would have lost about $3k. just a thought...
  9. 223 would work great for elf's, but not so much on big game. I shoot a .270 and am happy with it. I've been thinking about moving up to a .300WSM for more knock down power. IMO .300 is a good solid choice for deer/elk/bear.
  10. man thats terrible. at least it wasn't at home in the garage. I still havent moved back home since my truck went up in feb. I feel ya man, but at least you could salvage a couple of things from it. I had nothing, and my insurance tried to screw me out of all my aftermarket goodies, but i fought with them for almost 2 months and gave them a list of everything i had on/in the truck along with production numbers and book values, got a couple of apraisals (sp) and ended up getting more than i expected for the truck, but still didnt cover all the money i had invested. hope everything works out for you, good luck.
