  1. I feel like an idiot. I went out today and finally started to go through everything, I started at the Turbocharger and made my way up the charge pipes. I made it passed the MAF and up to the Throttle Body and lo and behold... The pipe had blown off... I could have fixed that in two seconds at the track but I was so damn tired and hot I just figured it to be the worst. Good thing is, it was only off a little so I don't think anything got sucked into the intake manifold. I just cannot believe I didn't put 30 seconds worth of effort into it and found/fixed the problem on the spot. Good thing is, $0 to fix it.
  2. Sorry... for clarification... the VP can was used to fill the bike. The truck gets premium fuel always. I try for 93 octane all the time if it is around. I just sent her out to fill it up for $2 and some change at a local station vs paying for premium fuel at the track for $4 and some change and the "convenience".
  3. Ok gents here's the deal. This weekend I loaded up my '08 Buell 1125r and headed down to Hallett raceway for a trackday. The truck ran great all the way down there. Then the morning of the big day I sent my lovely wife out to grab some fuel in the VP can and return to the track before we started our warm up session. She came back and told me the truck was idling real funny and the O2s weren't bouncing like they should be. The first thing I asked her was if she was getting hard into the boost trying to show off, and she swore up and down she hadn't. I didn't have time to look at it because our track sessions were tightly scheduled. So we got a lunch break and I fired it up and the sucker was idling like crap and trying to die, which it did a couple of times. I revved it a little and it would smooth out and run ok but when the RPMs dropped it started to chug. I didn't hear any detonation and checked all my guages to make sure I didn't have any major issues. I didn't have much of a choice so I loaded everything up and told the truck to get us home and she did! I drove it real easy back home but on the Interstate it gave us no real problems, just when we woudl stop for fuel. On the way home I speculated that maybe I got some crappy fuel, or maybe the methanol injector was leaking, or perhaps the O2 sensor was going out but nothing really made sense. I do have EFI Live, but I didn't have it on me at the time, and the truck didn't not throw a service engine soon light. So here is my plan... Plan of Attack 1. Get off work tonight. 2. Hook up EFI Live, record idling and look for codes. 3. Reflash PCM with last tune from Texas rear Turbos. 4. Start at Turbocharger and clean K&N, check fittings, and charge pipes for leaks. 5. Work up to the MAF and check for debris/soilage. 6. Check injector for drip leaks. 7. Check grounds and sensor connections. Known Items... 1. Vaccum is steady. 2. No SES light. 3. Plugs are only a few months old. 4. MAF has been cleaned within 90 days. 5. Charge Piping has been cleaned within 90 Days. 6. After engine is at operating temp it will idle ok...but on throttle tip in it cuts out. 7. At cruising speed. It doesn't seem to have any issues. If I find the culprit in those steps I will be happy. The truck did this once before after I filled up on post with "premium" fuel and it ran like crap and idled like crap. As soon as the tank started to burn down I went to BP, and put some known good premium in it and it stopped! So I never worried about it. But even after filling up again down there at a station miles and miles away it was still doing it. So the question here is, anyone have any other ideas? And if anyone uses EFI Live and wants to give me a little hand I will send you the data logs to review. Thanks a lot!
  4. I didn't even see that he had silvers... DOH!
  5. I have been bookmarking a few I have found on ebay. Just thought I'd drop a line in here as well. I'm stationed in Missouri BUT I am from Texas. I go home occasionally so I might be able to stop in FT Worth / Dallas area and have this one repaired. Damn the luck, it's my daily driver too...well it is now that the riding season is coming to an end.
  6. Well, my factory rim has a damned crack in it and I don't know if I will be able to find a proficient welder to fix it or not. I know people want to sell entire sets, but all I need is one good rim. If anyone can help please let me know. I have Paypal as well. -Cory
  7. I know you need to sell them all in one foul swoop. But I am in need of only one. My 05 SS has Chrome 20's factory and one of them has a crack on the inside lip that is causing me to loose 20 PSI of tire pressure a day and has become dangerous. If you are willing to sell one at a time please send me a PM.
  8. Well the PC board and terminals are all soldered up now. Don't make fun of my soldering job I am certainly not a professional and it was a little messy but everything is certainly got plenty of solder around it, terminal wise. I am waiting on a buddy to bring me a drill and a drill bits so I can drill the 4 holes in the ends of the box for the wiring to slide into. I really think this is going to turn out ok so far.
  9. Having a Boost gauge with a vaccum reading on it for any forced induction application is very smart. First off, your engine is an air pump, so no matter what it generates vaccum, your power adder will not start force feeding until you reach equilization or 0 PSI, it is at that point you then begin to boost and your air pump becomes more efficient. Also, having a vaccum gauge can help diagnose problems with idle, and overall driveability. After having Boost/Vaccum gauges on my two turbo vehicles for years they are a must now. Now, I do know more S/C people to not have vaccum scale on their gauges than turbo guys. With a turbocharger as you depress the throttle you can watch the vaccum/boost gauge and *see, hear, feel* the boost as it comes on. It also helps with power braked launches as you can memorize the right RPM vs Vaccum vs Sound when you launch and get the best 60' times as possible.
  10. Thanks, here's all the part numbers from Radio Shack in case you want to build your own. I will end up having open terminals for future crap too. <Radio Shack> 2700283 Project Box 3 3/16 X2 1/8 X1 $3.99 2761388 PCB Terminal 20 5MM $2.49 *Need Two Packs of these* 2701213 Blade Fuse Holder $2.69 2701083 3 20A Blade Fuse $1.99 2781217 60' 18 Gauge Wire $4.99 *Need Red and Black unless you want other colors* All in all about 25 bucks for the parts...I'll post pics when I get the stuff put together and find a suitable mounting location. In the meantime I need to find a good spot to tap into the 12V ignition power source. Any ideas?
  11. Ok well after raiding Radio Shack I came up with a project box, wire, pc board and pc board terminals. I will have to solder each row together to make the connections and drill a couple of holes for the wiring in the PC box, but this is what I was looking for. Here's a couple of pics, tell me what ya think...
  12. Justin is the man to speak with. After returning from overseas and not having any EFI Live experience at all, he was kind enough to get me started with a solid starter tune. This allowed me to actually drive my truck home cross country and such. I did stop at TRT in Dallas on the way home and paid for a great tune there but I have since made many changes to my tune just from learning the interface on my own and experimenting one table at a time. I will say when Justin makes a suggestion, please listen carefully. I wanted a wideband O2 setup and was looking in many directions and he turned me onto PLX. The gauges looks fantastic and the setup is very very sharp. They are affordable as well and you have many options that are far superior to other manufactures. Now I will say I have been procrastinating on getting mine installed, but that is because the Army takes alot of my free time and I want to get some other things out of the way before I add to my electrical fire hazard mess under the dash lol. See my thread in the General Forum. Speak with Justin, heed his advice and listen carefully. EFI Live is a very powerful tuning tool that I have really enjoyed playing with. I do want to get enrolled in an EFI Live 101 course eventually if they come my way. Good luck and happy tuning.
  13. TM is there for a reason. The reason...the engine made too much power to begin with for that old 4L60E so an easy fix is to add a nice little table called TM to the ECM. Course it has other reasons too (shift firmness, line pressure, etc), but in my opinion that is the primary. These guys are right, you can get away with taking a little out, but be careful unless you have some tranny work done. BTW, what tuner are you using... Go EFI Live Go!
  14. Well here's what I am working with. I created a wiring diagram of what I have and what sort of contaption I am looking for to sort all these connections out. Take a look and tell me what ya think. Wiring_Diagram.ppt
