this is awesome. I will need to do some similar work on my 05. No rust, but the roof, hood, and bed are peeling. Plus will need to do the headliner, leather repair, and then next up will be a motor rebuild. It runs well, but has 170k+ miles and I want to do a cam at least, if not possibly a blower.
I like that tailgate spoiler, where did you get it?
Thanks!! Yes it is indeed the Intimidator spoiler as stated by @someotherguy I found it on ebay a couple years back
I'm getting the itch to drive it sooo bad. But in the mean time I detailed the front inner wheel wells and put the 22s back on the front just to drool over 😍

I came across these Rough Country wheel well liners online . I have always thought the rear wheel well looked unfinished and these make it look great! https://www.roughcountry.com/chevrolet-rear-wheel-well-liners-4299.html?gclid=CjwKCAiA3L6PBhBvEiwAINlJ9AWhTYQ0aFvstANnCoxpZfklTzsZRO-1CnHfDMtnoXX4RoR-74CGlhoCMS0QAvD_BwE
Before, kind of unfinished looking in my opinion.
I also made sure to put a thick layer of Fluid Film behind them. Not that this truck will ever see salt but it can't hurt
Installed! Looks fantastic!

I spent many hours detailing under the hood of this truck. I also added a AEM cold air intake and Holley valve covers to clean up the look. In addition to that I also added a new chrome alternator.
Here is how it started
Here is the valve covers and the intake tube I have powder coated red to match.
I also painted the alternator bracket when I added the new chrome alternator.
Holley value covers really clean up how the coil packs look with them mounting directly to the coil packs.
Came out so nice I am very happy

Long time no updates! Just have been enjoying the truck! It is put away for the winter to I intend to do a few things to it. First of which is a Trans cool 40k cooler which I installed yesterday.
So much bigger than the stock cooler
Also looks super cool behind the grille!

Bought the light kit, poor quality and couldn’t finish my set up, even though they sent extras, most were useless..
I haven't had any issues with mine

Finally out enjoying this thing!

Back together! Aside from the rear bumper I didn't have time to put on.
First I POR15'd the brackets for the cladding
Made sure to test fit everything before I drill any holes
I felt bad drilling into these nice clean rockers haha
But I did make sure to spray lots of rust proofing in the holes even though it will never see salt
All riveted back on
Back together!
?? backed it out of the garage to see if outside

Sooooo much work has gone into this truck recently. I knew the rockers and cab corners needed attention but after taking a closer look one day i realized they were much much worse than I had thought..
So that meant it was time to get them done. I was hoping not to have to do this so soon but I can't leave it like this.
Major dismantling
Old junk cut out
The inner rockers were toast too
All the old junk out
New inners going in
New outer rockers on
All painted! Too bad this will all be covered up by the cladding
Painted the rocker cladding too.
And that's where its at as of now

Coming along nicely!
I got the Corsa cat-back (traded another forum member for it) and dig it; it's a nice middle option between the ugly-loud Magnaflow I had on there and the too-quiet stock muffler.
Have you tried those switchbacks with the engine running yet? I had some (totally different brand) in mine that worked great with the engine off but once it was running and system voltage went up a couple volts, the white running light function started strobing like crazy and eventually turned off. I've got some little voltage regulators I was gonna try to hack in but it seemed like I was having to do too much to make switchbacks work so I just put regular LED's back in there. No hyperflash on my truck as I've got the Novita flasher unit.
Richard
Yes I have and they work just as advertised! I would defiantly recommend them!
I got my 06 lower grilles in yesterday to officially finish the front end swap
Before
With the K Designs lower Honeycomb grille
Then I cleaned the air ducts really good and replaced the inserts with the OEM Honeycomb ones

Truck will look great with 22s on
Thanks! I can't wait to see all of them on in spring!
I got alot done over the last couple weeks! I finished the headliner. I also ordered the full corsa exhaust. I had the custom made side exit for awhile but I never was in love with it, but this Corsa kit is amazing!
Then I got some diesel led front LED switch back turn signal bulbs. The best thing about them is they have a build in resistor so there is no need to chop up the factory wiring!
https://dieselleds.com/collections/chevy-2500-3500-1999-2007/products/lumenex-switchback
I also got a K Designs 3D printed lower honeycomb grille and the matching oem air duct inserts to complete the 06 front end swap
And to finish off this post I got this awesome ornament for Christmas

Nice job ? my headliner is also starting to sag and my plan is also to have it reupholstered in tan suede
Thanks! Unfortunately I haven't had time to finish it yet I because I came down with COVID. But yesterday I did test fit a wheel and I cannot wait to see them all on come spring!

Started the headliner repair. I was able to find some suede that closely matches the stock color
Typical sagging
Took me awhile to scrape off all of the old glue. But be carful not to damage the fiberglass headliner
New material all laid out! I'll let it dry for a few days before I re install everything. I also still have to re cover the sun visors.

Well, she's put away for winter ? But now that means its time for more upgrades!
I installed a pioneer double din with android auto which I really love and a 10in Rockford P1 with a box made to fit under the seat. This was my first go around at car audio and I think it came out pretty good!
Next its time to fix the saggy headliner
-
I got an interior LED package from Ebay. It makes a huge difference!
Then I got a 05 Trailblazer airbag swapped in
and I ordered the "ss" horn decal with the proper font. Just waiting for that to come in.

Looks great!! What’s next on your agenda?
Thanks! I am planning on getting replica chrome 22's and refinishing the headliner (which is next)
I went to the scrap yard yesterday and got some trim parts to dye when I plan to recover the headliner in suede. I got the spares in case it doesn't turn out
Here is what I plan to use, from my research this should be a match (or very very close) to the factory dark pewter
Here is what I want the end result to be.

I just love how this thing sits

I am working on the same thing. That rust encapsulator works great! Looking forward to seeing finished pics!
I agree, I have never used it before but I will be from now on!
I finished this weekend. I also installed the shorter bump stops to accommodate for the drop kit

Please post the end results of the 2” drop, let us know how it handles, etc. I want to do a 3/4 drop, but my understanding and reading all post is that it hits a little on bumps. Thanks,
On 8/27/2020 at 2:11 AM, Grumpytony said:Hows the ride smooth? How does it handle on curves? Any hitting? Thanks
To answer your questions; It handles slightly better I want to eventuality do a bigger front sway bar and a rear sway bar. The right is just as smooth as stock but I did get the correct drop shocks for it. Slight ribbing on full lock with stock wheel/tire combo but very minor. Overall extremely happy with it.
Detailed it all up yesterday

Looking pretty good; I usually prefer more drop but I never could get around to installing the drop kit on my '06 and traded it to another forum member.
From the part # I'm assuming that's the spindle & shackle drop?
Truck looks slightly raked or is it just a wheelwell design difference.. I'd wonder if the shackles have a spot for another 1" of drop to make it more level.
I'm seriously considering this drop for my truck now, although I did just install stock height BT shocks...if the part #'s for the small drop are any different I could just swap the stock height shocks over to my wife's truck.
Richard
Thanks! I too do like a bit lower but being AWD I was worried about running into issues. If it was a 2wd I would have gone lower. The rear sits about a half inch higher I believe its like that from the factory although I completely forgot to measure before I installed the kit.

I got the 2/2 drop in! Here are some quick pics. She needs a good detail!
