  1. Hi Guys

I have an 04 crew cab (sadly not a SS) Silverado thats recently had an aftermarket alarm fitted. The fitter couldnt tie my factory remote locking / unlocking in with the alarm so I currently have 2 fobs. Not ideal. I now understand an aftermarket part can be plugged into a factory port (im a useless techie lol) which will then enable the alarm to work the locking ?

Please can somebody provide more info to the part I need ? I live in England and importing parts is now expensive, so I need to get the correct part 1st time.

Im also upgrading my speakers ect. I read a Cruchfield article about upgrades so bought front speakers (missread and thought rear door speakers where same as fronts, doh !) and rears. Just the A pillar tweeters to change but what size ? My trucks not here so cant go out n look but want to get them ordered.

  2. Hi Guys

The passenger rear vent in the back cab panel on my crew cab is part way out. I think the previous owner ran a cable for a reverse camera out of it but ive now pulled the cable.

How can i pop the vent back in ? Not much room between the cab & bed. Im pretty sure this isnt helping with a condensation issue im having.

  3. Thanks for the info Richard.

Everything is moulded in on the Duraflex copy. The centre mesh is provided but thats it.

I use a shipping guy who brings containers or parts from New Jersey to England. It was only way to get it here due to the size of the box.

I guess a GM bumper and everything would have cost more than double but would have been less body shop hours ?

  4. Thanks for your replys. It was only the lower valance that needed to be removed.

Its now fitted after a lot of work. My body guy had to cut / repair it in 7 places to get it to fit right. A real pain in the butt. I imagine anybody using tape to hold it on would be crazy.

I didnt fit the front fogs as there was a big gap due to the air ducts being a different shape, so got some mesh to match the centre opening.

Its too late now, but I asume that genuine SS bumpers are no longer produced ?

    Heres it all finished

  5. Thanks Richard. I had that diagram someplace but couldnt find it.

Yeah thats the impression im getting with the duraflex bumper. It doesnt come with any brackets or anything. Lets hope my body guy can polish a turd !

Guess shoulda done more research before plunking down money. My chrome metal front bumper is scraped & dinged, so the cover seemed a solution and the SS appeal.

  6. Hi Guys

Sorry I dont have a SS nor fitting a gennie SS front bumper, so hope somebody can help.

I purchased a Duraflex SS style front bumper for my 04 Silverado. After spending a fortune shipping it to the UK, its now at the bodyshop for fitting.

Does anybody have info on how to fit it / secure it ect ? Pretty sure I read the lower valance needs to be removed and also some guys have kept the front fog lamps in place ?
My body guy has 40 years experience but never done one of these before.

My trucks in the shop now, hence the urgency.

  7. Thanks for the comments Gents

There's a large amount of US vehicles over here, its great to be different. A buddy has an 04 Hemi Ram as his daily work truck (he's a sign-writer)

My C/C is a weekend ride only and puts a huge smile on my face when driving it. Its definitely a keeper.

My other Chevy (only for summer use) is this

Louder & brighter than the Silverado but not used as much lol

  8. Yeah we have a few over here Jesse. Although many of them are long beds via the USAF bases here.

I've only seen a couple of SS's here and Crew Cab short bed are pretty scarce too. Modded / lowered trucks even more so.

We are pretty outnumbered by the Ford & Dodge guys lol

Here's where I am with my 04. I got is last year as a stock 1 owner truck with 120'000 miles.

A colour matched rear & SS style front bumper are due soon. And maybe the rear spoiler

  9. Roll on a few months n some parts have arrived

The stock 16"s were swopped out for SS rep's with stock size tyres.

Then I found out stock SS tyres are too tall for a lowering job  So lower profile tyres were ordered as it had to go lower !

I spent a long time looking at 3/5 drop kits. Various reports had said you do need / you dont need to C notch the chassis. I spoke to the Belltech guys who advised as I wasnt hauling loads, its a weekend driver not a work truck, I wouldnt need to notch.

A few weeks later the 3/5 drop kit & upgraded shocks arrived to replace the original parts. It was totally stock when I got it.

And this is how it sits now !

Absolutely love how the suspension & wheels have transformed the truck

A few more mods are planned, as & when cash is available.

The rear bumper needs replacing as its dinged / twisted. Im going to colour code the new one. The front is also dinged & scraped so I'm looking to replace with a SS rep front cover and colour code the chrome grill bar.

  10. Hi Gents

After over a year of being a member, guess its over due to post what I've got & been doing

I bought this 1 owner 04 2wd Crew Cab last year, had only covered 125k. This is how I got it. Its very clean with only a few minor parking scuffs ect.

1st thing that had to go was the side step bars. An immediate improvement.

Then the original alloys were swopped for a new old stock set that I picked up for use on my previous truck ('00 Sierra ext cab)

Along the way the exhaust was replaced with a Flowmaster system to give it a nice burble. A bed cover added and the front bow tie badge repainted FTO Orange.

Silverado's are pretty scarce here in England, Crew Cabs even rarer.

  11. Sorry Gents but a few non SS questions for ya

(please move if in wrong thread)

I want to fit a repro SS front bumper cover to my 04 LT.

Apart from removing the lower valance, will it just bolt over or will i need other parts ?

Can i fit the factory fog lights behind or in place of the lower mesh grills ?

The same for the rear, bolt over my stock LT bumper ?

Any recommended suppliers for repro covers ? Due to size shipping maybe expensive to the UK so id rather buy well 1st time.
