  1. that drivers seat sure dont look like 7k. being how easy it is to lower miles on these trucks i find most of these hard to believe. cool truck tho if its really that low it belongs in a garage on a tender.

Right!? The truck has had 4 owners already. Seems like she's being passed around as a cash cow!
  2. This truck was for sale on Autotrader by a private seller and he was asking in the 20's, I remember because it had 7k on it. Guess he gave up and sold to the dealer, wonder hiw much the original owner made out with? Theres also an ISS for sale in Iowa I believe has just over 31k and they're wanting $28k I think it was.

  3. No but close. Customs and Border Protection hanger.

I would reply but my head exploded! Haha I knew I recognized the wheels! I always saw your truck in the lot next to the fire station, and right across that building they recently built, cant remember the building's number, but OMG can't believe I guessed that crap lol. I used to work for a maintenance contract out there is how I had seen it in case you were freaked out haa!
  4. 2003 with about 153,000+/- now. No wreck, no bondo. Bought new, daily driver, still stock except for wheels (stolen) and radio (broken). IIRC, alternator, brakes, brake lines, throttle body, wiper motor and one side mirror heater failure.Just changed plugs and wires this month (for the first time). Driver's seat bolster / arm rest was getting a little crushed so I had new leather and carpet installed early this year. New Bilstein shocks installed this week. About 14-15 mpg in town, 17 highway under 65 mph and 14.3 mpg over 65. After all this time I am considering, maybe, perhaps selling to get a new ride. In S. Texas the inter web estimates about $13k for it.

Damn those seats look sooo good with red accents to match the truck! How South into Texas are you?
  5. I'm Texas born but currently in Fort Bragg because of the Army. To tell you the truth I invested to much time and money on my truck to let it go. That's why when I got bumped this morning I got out of my truck with anger on my face. Come to find out it was a person I work with. Also, just reenlisted and spent my whole bonus on fixing her up. She holds a special place in my heart.

Yeah I was just messing haha, Down here I see most people coming from florida, maryland and some washington that are in the service.
  6. Maybe its time to let go of the SS... I see you have Texas plates, I know a person looking for an SS in Texas, he said with a grin fron ear to ear while pointing at hinself! Haha So good to hear your willing to work it out with a co worker, most people these days go overboard and want to get paid a check for being bumped... :/

  7. The 05,06,07 could be ordered either way. I don't have exact numbers but I have seen a few with Cloth in all colors.

Obviously My personal preference would be loaded. I know some theft recoveries have been put back with cloth as good leather is hard to come by.

Speaking of theft recoveries... I saw one posted in Cali for sale, well the title history report says that it was stolen and recovered the same day about a month or two before being posted for sale. Wouldn't that put a mark in the title, rebuilt, reconstructed or even salvage in worst case? Doesnt appear to be missing anything or show any damage from theft.
  8. Damn that sucks, I'm sorry that happened. I know I had seen a silver birch 06 for sale in San Antonio, and now I'm seeing it posted in Las Vegas, the dealer didn't even bother to remove the gaudy side steps, and the driver headlight had discoloration. I know its just business but, at least let the person you buy from know.

Good luck in finding it, hopefully the current owner is looking into another vehicle!

  9. Were the silver trucks the ones that you would see more often with the cloth seats? Dunno; the silver one I just got is fully optioned up just like my Intimidator, both trucks the same and neither with sunroof.

    Richard

I've seen many that were optioned out, but then I've also seen many with nothing better than traction control beside the air vent. I have been looking for a silver birch foreeever, but the ones I've found have spotty records and or no options. I had seen one in Cali for over $20k with 80 or 90k, but the title history showed it had been stolen and recovered not too long before being put up for sale... which leads me to believe the title is not actually so "clean and clear."
  10. Damn, 375 is what, driving from the dealer home with it?! What color did you get, I know black and red seem to be the most common/popular colors, but arrival blue sure does look sexy! I hear mixed opinions on the silver birch trucks, 05 or 06, But I know many of them only came with a power seat, very under optioned, but damn when that silver birch shines, omg!

  11. LOL, "Are these header bolts supposed to be 10mm? I've found a ton of metric stuff in my engine bay so far (unless this is OEM?)". Yes, nearly every bolt in your SS is metric. The automotive giants went metric back in the 90's.

I agree that it's very common for broken manifold bolts, I got the pleasure of extracting the driver side one closest to the firewall when I did my headers. As far as access goes pull the front wheel and the wheel well liners and you will have nearly straight access to the bolts but will need some ratchet extensions.

Unless you do find a crack in the manifold(s) and are not interested in performance upgrades at this time I would just reuse the manifolds. I would just get new gaskets from the dealer and new bolts and put it back together.

    :withstupid::withstupid:

Obviously using wd-40, liquid wrench, or pb blaster will help break up some of the rust, but when they do give way, work em. Do half a turn off, then do maybe around a quarter turn on, and so on, might help them come out easier.

  12. Thanks everyone.

The step rails have been KILLING ME. I hate them. I definitely lol'd at the overwhelming hate too haha. I asked the shop that flushed my brake system to cut them off with a torch (the bolts are seized) and they couldn't figure out what I meant..later I find out the guy at the desk completely botched the explanation and luckily the tech was smart enough to not go slicing up my truck. He couldn't believe what I asked for vs what he was told. I'll go back this weekend to get it done. The truck had bedrails too when I bought it, terrible.

    Back to the noise:

I was out of town all weekend, but will find some time this week to investigate it. Thanks again for the responses.

Just today my serice advisor told me a customer needed air in his tires, well I walked to the car and he said I hope you can help me with this noise I'm having etc... turned out he told her he had a grinding noise from the passenger brakes! When I quoted my advisor for front brake pads with resurfacing and 2 front tires she stared like I thought he only needed air?
  13. My 2013 ccsb has leds in the fogs and the low beams, I got the 5k color temp fron diode dynamics, had them just over a year now, no complaints. I can't remember the lumen output, but they claim to measure the actual light emitted, not just calculate that 3 leds at 50 lumens per led means 150 output. They have almost a faint purple tint them, but in a way it looks good not cheesy.

  14. You sure you don't have an exhaust leak? It may be cowidience after the oil change that it got louder....

That's what I was thibkibg as well. I wonder if your headers hasket has a leak? Iwonder if you could isolate where you think the ticking is coming and put your hands near and see if you feel any exhaust seeping out or notice a differnce in the tick sound?

Also, you said you seafoamed it, maybe that stuff wore the gasket a little more, if exhaust leak is the problem that is.

  15. Seems like most of the vehicle market is indulged in fuel econony and making vehicles that take the "driving" out of driving. Cars that parallel park themselves, brake when you aren't paying attention enough to do it yourself, seats that vibrate because you're veering out of your lane, the list goes on and on unfortunately.
