  1. I figured, thanks for the reassurance man, don't think I will be doing any pulls I want the truck to last me as long as possible, I am predicting that I am going to be it's last owner, though it's a big stretch considering the truck has 35,000 miles on it currently Yeah I figured that as well, these trucks with a 4L80E would have been a better combo but I know that's strictly for HD's Nice to know, I knew the Vortecs in general are very good engines that last a long time if taken good care of, maintenance wise, my father has a 97' Silverado that he's had since 02' when it had 43k on it, it now has 172k miles on the odometer and still runs like a dream with no major problems George
  2. Lol not really I just wanted to gather wether or not these motors can take a bit of abuse I don't plan on doing that anymore just because but I wanted to know if me having brought it up to that speed a couple of times already did harm..
  3. Hey guys just wanted to gather some input as to how durable are the motors on our trucks.. I find it hard for me not to floor it or get going whenever somebody pulls up next to me on the highway, I raced a ws6 the other day and got beat by half a car i maxed out at 110mph, my basic question is as dumb as it may seem that is it bad to constantly be doing this to the engine? Reaching high speeds, I feel good because i beat someone on occasions but then i feel bad because it's a limited edition truck and i don't usually abuse my engines in my trucks like this... George
  4. Lol well Baer has a kit that costs that much I think it's the Extreme 1 or something like that it comes with the 15' rotors and 6 piston calipers, Baer does sell the Eradispeed rotors for 695 for front and 645 for rears I figure that's a start
  5. AC Delco makes slotted rotors? lol didn't know, how are they? I'm looking to upgrade my brake system with something else but Baer and Brembo are out of the equation because of not in my budget..
  6. Yeah runs like a dream although the previous owner did relay to me that a tune was not done by him since he was the one that had all those mods done, he said he just never got around to it and that a tune would really wake the truck up I already feel like i'm flying when I mash on the throttle lol
  7. Baer brake setup still available?
  8. Congrats! I have headers, cold air intake, and throttle body spacer installed from the previous owner and i've been contemplating on wether or not to tune it being that i don't know much about that.. George
  9. Lmao i raced a ws6 on the freeway yesterday. saw him reving his car so i pulled up to him on the farthest left lane and my pipes screamed at WOT he still beat me but by like half a car, felt good considering that it was 5,000 lbs. against 3.500 lbs. and only .3 more of displacement George
  10. So they clip on? they're not the stick on type like avs makes now I think the ones they produce now stick on with adhesive.. PM sent
  11. The Silverado SS shirts would be a good start i'd be up for one but a universal design like the one you showed as that will provide a t-shirt that's unique to only forum members, I haven't been here for very long like you or some of the other guys but I don't want to see the website die out, we should do it as a means to spread it's name George
  12. Thanks! I checked today under my truck and just off first sight i didn't see anything or a harness? How is it supposed to look like?
  13. A link to the thread would very much be appreciated! I'm like you and want things to be perfect lol, Thanks George
  14. I have an 04' and I'm wondering the same thing as well, i would like to add fog lights but i haven't checked underneath to see if the wiring is there, is it just 06' specific? only people i've heard that have done that mod have 06' trucks.. George
  15. Never mind i called JBA, Poweraid, and S & B, and they're all sending me replacement stickers I still need the accessory belt routing sticker though and the catalyst emissions sticker
  16. I was thinking of using a heat gun and then resticking them with an adhesive anyone have any ideas? I need to do this because when I bought the truck it had shorty headers, a throttle body spacer and a cold air intake, the new part only comes with the warning label not the catalyst or belt routing either and I need those stickers to pass smog in California.. anybody have any ideas for the adhesive to use? Any help would be greatly appreciated as to go about this since ive never used a heat gun before George
  17. Thanks man I appreciate it though I decided to just buy an oem one for cheaper on ebay and I'm just going to peel the stickers off my original one and stick them back on with superglue or something George
  18. x2 on this one, A windshield banner with the 'Silverado SS" written on it with the font like the one on the lanyard would be cool! George
  19. I was replacing the manifold cover on my SS and i accidently put my knee on the plastic baffle piece that goes over the radiator.. anybody have a spare one or any idea where i can get a good replacement? Dealer wants $100 for a damn piece of plastic plus 30 bucks for the belt routing sticker , any help would be appreciated, Thanks George
  20. A Silverado SS t-shirt would be cool being that there aren't any besides the ebay crap George
  21. https://phoenix.craigslist.org/wvl/pts/d/vortec-max-engine-cover/6596498762.html Thanks just contacted the guy and bought it George
  22. Looking to buy just the middle manifold cover, would preferably take one that is in good condition with none of the letters paint peeling off or scratched off, let me know what you have George
  23. Congrats on selling her just out of curiosity I noticed you had listed that it was tinted 50% on the windshield, just wondering if it was hard to see out of that at night or in the day? I have 5 percent all around on my truck except the shield but am thinking about doing the windshield 50 percent
  24. Yeah i don't think it's the deck as I've been having this noise with the JVC single din i took out to put the pioneer, probably the RCA wires, getting to the amps is a pain since they're behind the bench seats in the rear, and i don't want to try that hack of cutting the tabs either, only option would be to remove the whole seat to get to them
  25. I am having a static noise coming from what seems like the left side pillar tweeter on the drivers side, when i bought the truck the owner told me that it had JL slash audio amps 300/4 & 500/1 and Arc audio series 12's under the bench seat, and i just installed a pioneer avh-4201 nex head unit with a backup camera. It seems that it does it even more when i go over bumpy roads.. guy who did the stereo installation said it could either be the RCA because it was a cheapie, the crossovers or that something is not connected right in the amp, they're behind the seats hard to get to, or the tweeter itself, any thoughts? George
