  1. In the last couple of years you could order an SS with some stripped-down details like cloth seats instead of leather, I don't know what all options you could delete but I'd be surprised if it included the steering wheel without controls. Take your VIN to the local Chevy dealer and have them print you up a build report on it. If they aren't cool enough to do that for you, you could spend $5 and run it on Compnine. It'll decode all your RPO codes for you and save you the hassle of doing it yourself. Richard
  2. Similar plan but modified a little bit, you could grab a rust-free 1500 and do a 4L80E swap if you want. You're going 2WD anyway so that should simplify your search. Plenty of 2WD ECSB 1500's down here where stuff doesn't rust. Also, going with 2WD as the basis you'd be coil sprung front end instead of torsion bar. Plus, you'd have stuff to sell to defray the cost of the project truck as you pull it in prep for your SS parts. Engine, trans, rear end, interior... Richard
  3. We're both in Houston, dunno what side you're on but I'm in NW. If you just wanna pick it up. As far as the fog lights I made brackets out of flat stock, didn't make any modifications to the truck itself, the holes are just drilled in the brackets I made. Didn't have to move the grilles. Overall I guess the finished product is OK but since the housings are larger than the brake duct grilles there's a lot of light bleed around them, I tried to mask the lens to limit that and it helped. I wish I'd used thicker metal for the brackets though because they do let the housings shake a bit while driving. Richard
  4. For what it's worth, I just dug up both original emblems in my garage and they're part # 15773420 stamped on the back. I replaced them both with billet as both were showing some wear, and one had been plasti-dipped black, when I peeled it off I saw the wear underneath. They seem to all go bad the same way, where the gold paint on the back side peels in spots at the edges and gives it that "old mirror rot" effect. Not very noticeable but it did bug me enough to change them out. If a couple very minor flaws on the back edges don't bug you, you can have the good original I have left. The other one has some weird spot like something melted to it. Could maybe be wet-sanded and polished if you're bored. The Shopman bowties are nice, though I went with the billet w/milled border on both our trucks. Richard
  5. You sure? Even the official GM pics for the Intimidator show a gold bowtie. Looks gold to me, anyway, light gold. Richard
  6. Which two part #'s? When I look em up on gmpartsdirect, even though I've selected 2006 Silverado SS as my vehicle, it gives me two choices for the emblem - with and without SS. If you click the "without SS" selection, it's a GMC emblem...and the "also fits" list includes Silverados. Holy WTF bad data It *looks like* 12335700 is the correct part # and that fits all regular Silverados (2003-2007 classic) and SS's.. for a dealer website the application data looks really, really erroneous all the way around, though. When I got billet bowties for our SS's I just got them for a Silverado and they fit perfectly. Their application listing covered all 2003-2007 classic Silverados. Richard
  7. Bought from him twice, first a full drop kit for my SS a couple years ago and just a couple weeks ago a set of Belltech shocks for my SS. Both times fast service and super helpful. Sorry you're having trouble getting through? Doesn't sound like him at all. Several texts back and forth on the # listed on his store page where he double checked my application to be sure I got the right stuff the first time. The only email communication this time was through paypal receipt and ship notices, so I dunno which email address is good, though the norcalss06@aol is the one listed in paypal. Richard
  8. Sweet... pics? These are literal OEM or old stock aftermarket? Richard
  9. I was asking recently about the Belltech shocks vs. the Monroes that come up for the SS application; got some good feedback on the Belltech but they are a little firm, not cushy. The reviews on the Monroe monotube shocks are not good.. The full set of Belltechs are only $225 shipped from Tony @ tbssowners, can't beat that price anywhere. Cushy they ain't, but then again I'm running 22's so I don't expect a smooth ride out of my truck. Richard
  10. For some reason this thread, while meant to be helpful, hasn't got a lot of attention or responses to questions over the years. Anyway SS bumper cover is 12335659, the actual steel bumper behind it ("impact bar") is 89045660, and there's a whole bunch of other smaller parts involved as well. The second number you asked about, 15139804, is the bumper cap for a non-SS truck. Here's a decent diagram, https://www.gmpartsdirect.com/auto-parts/2006/chevrolet/silverado-1500/ss-trim/6-0l-v8-gas-engine/body-cat/bumper-and-components-front-scat but you have to scroll down past the non-SS bumper to the SS diagram which will be obvious when you see the SS cover, ducts, etc. Link is parts for an 06 so if your truck is older not all the #'s will be appropriate. Richard
  11. Big and heavy, about the only way to send it without spending a fortune is to send it Greyhound Bus. That's how I got mine. Richard
  12. Welcome, IMO not much issue with the stock air intake on a stock/near-stock engine; if you want a little more punchy without spending a bundle a better investment would be a custom tune. Richard
  13. Emailed those pics to you yesterday, dunno if you got 'em. Richard
  14. Pretty sure I have some good pics already just gotta get them off my other computer and will send them along probably early tomorrow, getting ready to head in to work now. (yeah I'm one of those "essential" jobs but only because the gubment has seen fit to allow it for now) Richard
  15. The last post in this thread was in 2012 so a lot of the people posting in it aren't active anymore, BlownFogger is still around I think. There's someone selling the set of 3 on eBay, got to watch out as there's a lot of copies/fakes that are seriously low quality. But the one guy selling real ones has a set of 3 that last time I looked was actually 3 of the door-sized ones. I asked him and he said he did have the smaller tailgate scripts too, but that he wasn't including them in the set because they are harder to find. I have ONE brand new, un-applied tailgate script, that is very slightly damaged. I've been hanging onto it in case I ever need it, but would consider selling if anyone is interested. The post office folded it in half so it cracked between letters, but once applied you probably wouldn't be able to tell. Since I was spending a ton on paint and body work and all new emblems, I didn't risk it, so I bought another one to apply. Richard
  16. I hear you on the firm ride. I generally don't mind it, and I'll bet some of it on your setup is due to the shorter tires than stock. I've been thinking about going back to stock size instead of these 22's.. Richard
  17. Stock height 06 SS, was thinking Belltech Street Performance from Tony/norcalSS, but what are the other decent options? Rock has Monroes Reflex indicated for the SS about same price, dunno if they're any good. Richard
  18. There's a dude on performancetrucks.net selling takeoff rotors and calipers at a damn nice price, too, from customers doing the Brembo kit ($$$) Richard
  19. Any before pics? Looking good so far; gonna guess front end crash as that isn't an 06 front end? Richard
  20. Hey Ted, where you located? Richard
  21. Well TBH some of those views are web crawler bots ? but pretty sure the info you're looking for is all across the web on various info sources for LS engines. I'm no expert so please double check before you order anything, but I am reasonably sure that the LQ9 does not have AFM or VVT. Pretty sure VVT didn't hit the scene until GMT900 series (2007-up redesign.) Richard
  22. That Lemon Fresh Kendall is recommended for dual-Radix applications, for warranty reasons Richard
  23. Thanks! Those pics were taken a while back, right before I installed the Corsa exhaust I got from you! Richard
  24. Testing the waters; I've got a set of Centerline Stingray 22's with Nitto 921Q tires. Wheels are in top notch condition with no curb rash, no bends, no cracks, no repairs ever. All 4 center caps present. They do need to be polished as they're on my DD but they will polish up beautifully. The tires still have tread but they're a bit sketchy IMO. I've been DD'ing this truck around Houston too much and think I'd be better off with 20's, so if you have a NICE set of 20's to trade, PM me. Interested in any nice set of billet 20's or possibly even a few OEM options, aluminum only, no chrome or chrome clads please. Plus cash on your side depending on condition. Richard
  25. I could be wrong but isn't the truck intake better, and the car intake is a compromise for underhood clearance? Richard
